Greetings all from God's waiting room, Sarasota, Fl. As a general rule I have not added tint to any of my prior cars. However, I must give props to Cake Daddy's Black/Black with tint and many other cars pictured here. Truly looks ninja with the Y34. Thus, I am now close to doing it but have a few questions: Are there any downsides in terms of damaging the windows. If this seems a stupid question forgive me.Cheers,Mark

There's really no question - especially in Florida. Tint, of course. No downsides as long as you don't go any darker than 20%

Thanks for the props! The 5% tint was a must in this Albuquerque heat. Next to Phoenix & Las Vegas, Albuquerque is the devils play ground in the summer, plus the idea of rolling around looking like a fish in a fish bowl was not a good look for me. I am all about privacy, plus the tint adds more sex appeal to the black M or any black car for that mater. The only advice I can give is to go with good paper and good installer.

Yes, 5% is illegal in most cities but after observing a 1/4 of the cop cars here in Albuquerque with dark tints, I’m not too concerned.

I guess to leave an option for the owner. Most SUV and van owners tend to want the darker windows for their larger cars (more light coming in?). This isn't as true for sedan owners. It is easy enough to add tinting.

Any decent, reputable tinting place will/should do a good job - just get a recommendation from somebody local. The tinting places are also aware of the particular laws that your state may have as to what you can and cannot do.

Note that, in sunny climates, it is not necessarily how dark the tint needs to be, but how much damaging UV it blocks! In this regards, Huper Optik (see http://www.huperoptik.com) is remarkable, in that it is relatively clear but blocks the heat (and UV damage) very well.

Szhosain, thanks that technology seems perfect. Sent a request for nearby dealer. Living in Florida I would hazard a guess there might be a huperoptik dealer nearby. Truly sounds perfect. Thanks Again,Mark

You are very welcome!

It is awesome stuff from what I understand. I am having it done on my the windows in my computer room at home ... get the heat down in the summer months!

Hüper Optik Stark 30 is the strongest ceramic (no detector interference) film with the best infrared (heat) rejection on the market.

And you can still see out of it at night. For optical performance there is no better.
