UPS allows packages up to 165 inches in length plus girth.

If its bigger than that, you might need to shop around. Try FedEx again, or call DHL.

If no one will take the package, just ship it via Greyhound Bus. http://www.shipgreyhound.com/

What are you shipping? Bumpers?

For anything big, the tricky part is finding a box to fit it. Time to get out the tape gun and a knife and get handy :naughty:

^Yup.

Anything this size is going to get dim weighted* anyway. Just package it however you can to keep it protected. If UPS/FedEx is telling you they cant ship it the store you are going to is feeding you BS because they dont want to deal with it.

*Dim weighted is short for dimensional weight. Even if your package weighs 2 lbs.,if its over a certain cubic volume it gets billed as 30 lbs. regardless. I ship s***...

The bumper is already boxed, it was never used. UPS said they have certain dimensions that the box can't exceed and so did FedEx. Just so you have an idea this what the box looks like:

They suggested that I use frat or something like that, I called them up and they asked $800 for shipping it LOL.

any other suggestions?

Edit: It's 45 LBS if thats any help.

I sent my old bumper to another Nico member via Greyhound Bus. I just bubble wrapped the shyt out of it (no box) and took it to my local Greyhound Depo, and handed it to them. Cant remember the cost, less then $50 I think. Everything went smooth, no problems.

EDIT, I just faked it on the GH site, it says $48.45 with $300 worth of insurance, That sounds about what I paid 2 years ago :chuckle:
Note: thats from VA to NY
Lol From VA to CA its only 64.10. From coast to coast. Not bad :chuckle:

I asked AITracing to ship it directly to my body shop. I have no clue how they sent it.

I may go this route. But how does it work exactly, do I take the Box to them and then they ship it to the other person? or does the other person have to pick it up also?

You just take your item to your local greyhound station. Give it to them and pay them. They put it on the 1st outgoing bus that it will fit on. The other person picks it up from there local Greyhound station. They roll with 16000 daily bus departures to 3100 locations. They can get it pretty close for cheap :)

As for the BOX. I am not sure what the terms of your return are, you will have to check with them. I was sending to another Nico member and was just try'n to save him as much money as I could. A manufacturer may request all original packaging for your refund.....

How they got it to you: They ship bulk freight(Tracktor Trailers), and usualy have long term contracts for lower rates. Its also why they try and charge more to ship to residential, its a pain in the a$$ to move a Semi through some neighborhoods, and can be far from there normal routes and you dont have any equipment(forklift) if needed.

Okay, I'll definitely go with that method. Thanks everyone for the help.
