after doing some searching, ive found some mixed reviews.

Id like to know from the (spacifically) 1997-1998 Q's who have gotten the tien springs, whats your honest opinion on them?

Are they too stiff, not stiff enough, Too bouncy, make wierd noises?

Im just deciding if id really like to get low or not.

Honestly, If I lived in a warmer climate or if this was not my daily driver, I would have kept mine in.

Myself and Jeff (BadQ45t) both think the Tein / KYB SR's setup is the best ride we could imagine. I wouldn't go back to stock for anything, but I would like to be 1" lower than I am.

Roads in Los Angeles are far from good, bumps and ripples and potholes all over, but I am always impressed with the ride. I can't for the life of me figure out what went wrong on AudiovisionyY33's car, him and Mike (Q_SHIP) are the only 2 out of 30 people who've bought them that had any complaints I'm aware of. And like Mike said, if he lived in a warmer climate he'd of kept his.

I have some trust lowdown springs with kyb SR's and it rides extremely good.

I totally love it.

the front gives me a one finger gap on 245 40 19 tires and looks sharp and tight.

but the back gives me a 2 finger gap. Kinda weird springs with the back beiing higher by about 0.50 - 0.75 inch.

I am planning on cutting a coil at the back to even it out.

Kevin speaks well for me. I tell you what really has helped me in terms of scrapping stuff is getting up on the 19" rims. Since i put those on I don't bottom in a few places that I did before. The car is really transformed and IMHO rides better than the stock setup. The first time I went into a freeway cloverleaf I was completely amazed at how different the car behaved. If your in a place that has horrible road conditions I'd think twice, I live in the Bay Area where the roads are a bit better than they are in LA, but I wouldn't give these back for any reason. But if you do it consider getting up to at least 18" or 19" rims.

Overall I give them 10 out of 10!

I love the ride of the teins. I installed them on a new set of factory struts. Its a lot more sporty. The car is my daily driver including the winters up here. There is still plenty of clearance for any road obstructions. On top of that they make the car look awesome.

That's great to hear that the Tein's on new factory struts rides so well! I had thought it probably would work well myself, but I've had the KYB's (I know factory is also KYB) and will probably never feel that ride myself.

Rado, your kid looks almost just like mine in his halloween bear suit that was way too big, cute!!

They do not have the spindles, that is part of the strut "housing" which doesn't need replacement, you simply take out the old strut "insert" and clean out the oil (it's an oil bath OEM design) and drop in the new KYB SR Special inserts, screw the cap on and put the whole thing back in place. The rears are typical shocks. I haven't been able to get them, but OneTonGarage can, and they're about $750 which is only slightly higher than OEM price. KYB is the OEM brand so you can be confident in quality and fit. Not adjustable, but they are designed to work with lowering springs, so I assume they're shorter than stock. Excellent damping for Cali roads, I and everyone that's ridden in my car love the ride.

I've been riding around with the Tein/ KYB set up for almost 3 months now, and it's what's expected if you've ever driven a lowered car. Personally I don't mind and actually enjoy the pay offs you get. I guess you can appreciate it more if you drive one that has this set up and immediately after drive one with the normal set up, it's like night and day.

Congrats Rado!! Can't wait to see if it's boy or girl!

It's one of those things where people say "having a kid changes you" and you don't understand, but then you do. You're still the same person, but different. I love it, but I don't know if I want another, I think I just want my little guy.

antbo, I want to drop down another inch and it's either cut the Tein's or get coilovers. I really love the Tein/KYB ride though, so it's gotta be a great ride, but lower or no change.

I can get the SR Specials for just 680 for the set actually... but they won't necessarily allow you to go any lower at full compression than stock, especially in the front. They're designed to be an OEM replacement that works perfectly fine with the stock springs, and also allow you to run lowering springs while retaining good amount of suspension travel (which ends up giving you a better lowered ride, as well as keeps the struts alive longer). You could potentially get a set of SR Specials to go a little lower than stocks in the front if you don't use the strut insert spacer, and then cut down and reweld your strut housing. But once you're already doing that much work, it might be more worthwhile to look at other options... like running the universal aerosport strut bags on the coilover bodies. Ultimately, the SR Specials are probably the best option for people who know they don't need to go with coilovers nor air.
