I have an 89 with a very strong 100K motor with damn near factory compression and 127HP on the dyno. Needs valve guide seals.

I also have a recently rebuilt motor (same one) in a parts car I bought.

I am planning a turbo upgrade to run around 270-300HP.

The question is, should I swap motors now or just boost the old motor as long as I can get away with it.

How much work is it to swap the motor?

How much could I sell this stock rebuild for?

Or should I keep it for future upgrades?

Swap to the fresh engine. Then, pull the head off the old engine, replace the stem seals, put it back together and keep it for a spare, in case things go awry.

Swapping one engine for another is a little tricky sometimes. But simply replacing an engine with another just like it...very simple and straight forward.

Also, do yourself a favor and pull the engine/trans together all at once. Also, go back together with it that way. Saves lots of rolling around on the floor trying to benchpress the trans up into the car.
