Read a lot of opinions, but to summarize:what impedance are CA18DET injectors? Will DSM/RX7 injectors fit?If CA18DET injectors are low like I think, do I need only low impedance injectors or high-imp. also can be used?

Aparently DMS/FC injectors fit with a little coaxing and or milling of the fuel rail.

sigh. ok, lemme help. the CA injectors are low impedance top feed design. you can use injectors from any other car that uses these type of injectors. the DSM injectors will fit without any modifications with a bit of brute force and some dish soap or vaseline to help then slide in better. an FC is a 2nd generation turbo rx-7, the turbo II. you can only use injectors from a s4 (pre-88 i think) turbo II as they changed to high impedance with the s5, or 88-91 model. the 3rd gen uses high impedance as well, so you cant use them either.

the dsm injectors are 450cc, the rx-7 tII has 2 550 and 2 740 (?) cc injectors. the older lancers have 510cc units and i think the new ones have something like 620cc (?). aftermarket injectors for most american v8s will work too. hope this helped.

well they will but you will need to change the injector plugs and make a new fuel rail

we have run 550cc injecters from a series 5 mazda rx7 they fit straight in

you may need to cut the little plastic 'notchs' out tho..

series 4 or 5? I thought it was s4 that was 550cc low impedence, and s5 went to high impedence

How do I go about changing the injector plugs? Is it difficult?and making a new fuel rail? difficult as well???

My friend gave me his injectors for 50.00 still in box. As you can tell i've never done this before.

series 5 here in australiathe fuel rail will need to be milled to suit from alloy so...it has to be done usually by a specialist machine shop changing the plugs would be ok if you are hnady with a soldering iron and crimper.

He is from Latvia, so I don't know how well that is translating. But I assume he can/does speak english. Sold him my clutch a while back.

Don't know if they have FC's in Eastern Europe.

Whatever, I already ordered pre-88 RX-7 550's :)What I can't find (and if I can, they do not want to ship here) is decent EGT probe, like TRE :(

Where the heck do you guys keep ordering all these rx7 injectors from? I can't find anywhere good to get them and ebay is always empty too.

As of right now there isn't any on there. All the 550s on there now are high impedence and that is the way it is almost everytime i check. It's not a big deal because i don't really need them just quite yet but i figured if i could find a good enough deal then i would go ahead and pick them up.

wait i just thought of something and i may be a little slow in thinking this... but if the injectors from DSMs are swappable then would you also be able to take the dropping resistor pack thingy from a DSM and use it with the ca18det?

Sorry in advance if this comes off as a stupid question (assumtion). Since DSM injectors fit would 550 aftermarket DSM injectors fit, I did have some rx7 550's lined up to buy but the deal fell threw (oh well) so if these will fit that would be great.

The injectors are really the only thing stopping me from get the ecu chipped...so if anyone has some that they would like to get rid of let me know. Well um THANKS.

Series 4 use the low imped & 5 the high, if they are a purple headed injector they are generally the low, if they are red or pink, they are the high's.

GTR Skyline 440cc injectors bolt straight in.

I found to fit my 550 RX7 injectors in, I needed to slightly bore out the injector boss.

Has anyone else had this epxerience??

The difference then must've been that I'm using a U12 Bluebird manifold, they only needed oversizing about .5mm, but now they fit very snug.
