ok so im getting my motor in like 3 weeks, want to figure out if i wana tear it down and check the bearings, oil pump, valves, replace headgasket and other gaskets, seals, all that fun stuff. problem is i dont have a ton of money to dump into buying all the replacement parts, so should i wait, put the motor in drive it thru the season then enxt winter pull it and rebuild everything or just wait longer to get the money and do it now. or could you suggest a cheaper route, like just replacing a few key things

well if you are on a BUDGET do the following, first thing when you get your engine, do a leak down test, if the results are good, just inspect the rod bearings and main bearings (if all bearings are good and especifically bearings on rod # 4, no need to replace your oil pump), front and rear main seals, valve cover seals as as well as camshaft seals, inspect the timing belt to make sure there are no cracks, but I do recomend that you replace it as you don't know the exact milage on the engine. If the leak down results are good, no need to replace the headgasket. If the results are bad, not sure what kind of warrantee or deal you have with the seller, but don't bother installing it in the car, just do a full rebuild.

Good luck,
