Alright,

I went to purchase an A'Pexi S-AFC2 and was asked if I would like the Power FC instead. I can get it for my R33 RB25 (S1) with commander for $750 + shipping from a reputable shop. My question is, do I need it? I could spend $250 for a NIB S-AFC2, which was my original intention. I read the A'Pexi Product page and downloaded the product documentation on it. What do you guys (and gals) think? Is it overkill for me? It allows greater tuning functionality.. woo. The nearest dyno shop is about 1.5 hours and the nearest Power Excel certified tuner is 3 hours. Am I passing up a good deal, or is this over-kill for a stock RB25?

I guess what I am trying to ask are, what are the advantages and dis-advantages of going with this setup? Or should I just stick with an S-AFC2 + AEM Tru-Boost? (yes, I know a PFC is not a boost controller)

get the FC, much better ECU for the money, It was also voted by XS engineering as the best ECU for under 1k..... Thats a good deal too, from what ive seen the prices have been double that.

Get the PFC and the boost control add-on kit for $300 so you don't need a boost gauge. You can just use the PFC hand controller screen. You will have infinite flexibility with the PFC vs a piggy-back system.

I was originally going to go with Power FC, but instead im going to use a much cheaper and better alternative to tuning.

Nistune ECU along with a Zietronix wideband. Fully programmable ECU with real time self adjusted tuning capabilities and an adaptive tune.

Bro I can give you the number of a guy that wires RB's in his sleep. He does it for Premiere Autotechnik in FL (red S14 with chrome 26 making 900-100hp), but he wires cars all over the country.

He fixed my wire harnes after a certain person who i paid to wire it for me Focked me hard and dry.The guy who fixed it for me didn't charge me alot.

i had to buy both my Ka harness and my RB harness. i spent over $600 when all said and done. i got screwed over a couple times in the process... and it cost me way way too much money. not to mention, this is the 3rd person trying to get my car completely wired up. im contemplating the advice i got today. toss the harness and PFC, and use the microtech. its sounding really tempting at this point. except ive run out of cash all of a sudden..... frustrating, let me tell you.

Nistune is currently for private users in the forum right now, and is still under development, the last ECU coincidently he is finishing is the RB25DET ECU which is the most difficult nissan ECU to mod, there is the RB20DET and SR20DET and all of the VG motors and many more...

http://home.aanet.com.au/nistune/

there is a basic sneek preview of just a handful of things nistune has to offer.

Im going to talk to the owner about the RB25DE ecu out of the R32, becuase some people do Na to turbo on RB25DE's out of the R32 which have a more simple ECU. If that could be used and the right values could be input to act as a turbo motor, that might work.

Once the units are properly working there is a waiting list, so i'd just sit on it for awhile FOR THE rb25det at least.

Those pics are so small you can't even see them well enough to say. I have seen that site before, have you used the software yet? or just seen and heard about it?

So this ecu is available for the RB20DET already? You said its available for the forum users, I went to sign up for the forum and it said "Don't even bother to sign up if you haven't spoken to matt already"

Who's matt, how do I talk to him?I emailed the address at the bottom of the page, is that matt?

Now this Nistune is a daughter board that plugs into the ecu right. And then you can plug your laptop into it?I'm not really sure from looking at the page.

Is it like the Bikirom?

Do you send your ECU to him or does he just send you a cd with the board?

You can either send it to him for extra money, or you can do it yourself, and yes, its pretty much just like you said, and with a laptop and the zietronix wideband talking to each other, you can set the AFR you want and the ECU will change its tune and maps according to load to preserve the AFR you want.

Matt is the owner of the site btw.

Gawdzilla,

Thanks for actually answering my question =P

Do I even need to worry about an AFC or boost controller for a fully stock setup?

not really, other than the fact that it will be slow you'll be fine upping the boost a bit without safc or pfc. worst case just bump your fuel pressure a bit.
