I got a 92 dohc with 95k on it, seams to run great, but its just not enough. Should I turbo it? Or Sr it? How many miles are on your KA-t's?

i say turbo your KA , i have 265,000miles on my ka-et sohc and boosting 11psi, so 95,000 miles on your car is really good for turbo

do a compression test on all 4 cylinders and see how that turns out. i know someone who had 75k miles on his KA but had 130psi for his compression test. he boosted anyway and blew his motor. then you have people like 214kka with 200k+ miles and are fine. it's about the condition of your motor, not the miles.

265k miles??

did you rebuild the motor or anything before you boosted it? or did you just slap the kit on?

140.000 miles here and my compression was good so no rebuild over here...............

Most people on here have higher milage turbo engines that have been running for a pretty long time.

Get a compression test and if all 4 cyl look good i say do it. Thats what im planning on doing.

Turbo'd one KA at ~98,000...another at ~87,000.

The 87k motor has seen ~17,000 miles of anywhere form ~260rwhp to ~300rwhp, it's holdiong up great.

And as it's been said already...miles don't mean anything...condition is everything. Only thing that wears with mileage is rings and bearing...neither of which will just break form a little boost.

The pistons (ring lands) are the first to go if the motor detonates...and they could have 500,000 miles on them and be good as new...same goes for the rods (except they are MUCH beefier than the pistons).

At a bare minimum, do a compression test....better yet, compression plus leakdown.

Getting turbo kit one one month.It's on order.Fixing to turbo my 93 DOHC that has 180k on it.

DAMN! you're beating me I thought I had a record. KA24E-T at 235,000 miles... boosting .5 bar (since I'm staying around 90-91 octane gas and need a tune up)

well my friend is beating me he has 310,000 miles on his sohc and boosting 7psi but yea its all about taking care of your engine

I change my oil every 2,000 miles and check it daily. I also don't bounce the rev-limiter or do smokey burn outs every chance I get. lol

it's all about attention to details. (and that oil cooler might help as well...)

when i bought my car....had the original motor in it....has 275,761 miles on it and the motor finally gave out. The motor in it now has 1064 miles exactly on it because i rebuilt the entire engine and put in crower rods....CP pistons....mild port n polish on the head....unfortunatly it has the stock bump sticks but one day ill get the cams of my choice...another unfortunate ordeal is that since i took out the secondary butterflies in the intake....it causes a low end/mid range power loss...once i hit about 3600 rpms the car takes off awesome but idle to 3600 kinda feels sluggish....this is due to TOO much velocity in the intake manifold so it will all be fixed soon with my custom intake manifold im working on...hehehe

mine is right at 220k and boosted nicely...before the exhaust wheel split and flew out of the downpipe...

i like to baby my car, i change oil every 2 weeks, and i wanna get a trubo oil cooler to help out the engine's life, wat you guys reconmend for that ?

I boosted mine at 30k miles... Ran good till 45k miles when it detonated and cracked #1 and #4 ring lands...8 psi for 12 months10 psi for 6 months15 psi for about 4 months, thats when something failed and i got detonation... Pulled the pistons and had hair line cracks in the ring lands...Monday my forged pistons should be in.... ~375 whp... here i come
