I just installed my Megan racing coilover and went to get an alignment done. The shop said my car is to low for me to get an alignment done. I was told to go to a speed shop to get the work done. I would get it tune by a speed shop, but unfortunately all the shop around my area are more focus on racing badges and hid bulbs than anything performance wise. Since I'm stuck in the office throughout the business hours I didn't have a chance to check another shop out. Am I really to low for an alignment?

most of your typical shops won't touch a lowered car. Lowered cars have negative camber issues, and the shops will refuse to work on them because their owners don't want people coming back and saying "my car was aligned, but why were my tires tore up so bad?"

I took my car to a local chain a year or so ago called "White Tire and Alignment" It took half an hour of convincing them to do the alignment. I even said "I know the camber is negative, and you can't do a thing about it, but just fix the toe" After that, I took my car to a shop that works on race car setups, and have never had an issue since.

It is too hard to tell from your picture how low the car is. My car is around a 3 finger gap between the fenders and the tires all around. I have Kts coilovers, butI do not have any adjustable links, except for the front pillowballs. Going to a race alignment shop is not neccesary. I go to NTB for my alignments. My rear wheels are at about 1.5 degrees of camber, and my fronts are at around 2. The pillowballs are at the 0 setting (I always have them set the lower mounts, and I mess with the uppers when I track the car). So.. to answer your question, I do not think that it is too low, but it might be. If you are lower than me, you may have to run slightly more rear camber, but other than that, everything else should adjust back to spec just fine at any alignment shop.

Find a new shop.

There's a place here in Phoenix that has done alignments on my cars since the late 80's, and never have they turned me away.

My convertible is WAY lower than that, just took a couple 2x6's to "help" it get up on the ramps for the alignment machine.

You're lucky, hehe.

I took my car for alignment (I have lifetime firestone) after I lowered it & well, it barely got on the ramp - they adjusted the machines to be maximum lowered & the "traverse toe beam" was blocked - i even removed the front lip on my car, still nada.

I ended up having to pay extra to go to another shop that had laser alignment tools (instead of infra red) - those can do cars that are touching the ground, sweet.

I also agree with the 2x6 idea. When I had to get my previous cars aligned they just laid down some real low profile ramps looking things and I was on the rack.

the place i go for mounting tires will not align mine as well. they claim it is too low to get on the alignment rack, and when i suggested putting boards down they looked at me like i was an idiot. stupid workers employed by stupid people equals stupid results. needless to say, i will not return..

I just went to a regular alignment shop that has dealt with lowered cars. I have no finger gap between the tire and fender. They had to use 2x4s to get the car up the ramp. At the end of the alignment, they told me that the rear camber is maxed out, but the toe and front camber settiongs are to spec. Find another shop with more experience with lowered cars.
