Guys, i have readed alot threads and study on strut/shocks with springs and ask my friends and people around.. most of them have FWD cars and they said they never had any problems with blow up strut/shocks and some of them had shocks for over 2 years. so, i putted my tanabe GF210 springs on my S13 that drops front 1.01 to 1.57 inch and rear 0.59 to 0.98 inch and i didnt change the shocks, they are still stock and i have GR2 but im saving them after i test whats the deal with blow up shocks.. i driving it for 3 days and shocks are still in good condition until i decided to think thats what cause the shocks damages is because of TAILWHIP AND FISHTAIL!!! so i did the tailwhip once and i check on shocks, they are still fine so i decide to do some tailwhips and fishtails for whole night, now there is, passenger side rear shock is blown up.. i know you guys do tailwhips or what it is and its not good because lowering springs will cause more damage on your car.. thats why i notice people driving FWD cars never had any problem with it and you guys drive RWD so i know you guys do some tailwhips or whatever you call it.. so, quit complaining about it because you are one who causing some damages.. i understand your situation and i love doing tailwhips too because its fun but you know fun will cost you some more money so my advice is you guys need to quit doing that or you will keep on blowing shocks up..... peace out, guys

i dont quite understand what you are trying to say but it seems like you wanted to blow out ur factory shocks. another thing is that if im not mistaken, abusing your suspension on purpose will cause something to blow. and of course, lowering springs do not cause more damage on your car, its the way you drive the car that will do more damage. just my 2 cents

sorry if i made you confused about it because of my bad english.. excuse me, hehe but i noticed some people complain about their shocks blow up quickly so i just tested what cause them blow up.. you are correction, i blew my factory shock on purpose but who cares about this b.s. shock since i have some GR2 in stock.. im going to post a pic of this shock with spring soon after i replace it with GR2.. it is completely damaged and its funny but anyway, im just letting people know if they drive too hard then their shocks will be shorten life.. plus, i bought new tires last 3 months ago now i have to get new two rear tires because they are already worn out from last night.. hehehe

when you lower your car with springs, and do not replace the factory shocks, it will seriously reduce the compression travel of your shock, or possibly eliminate it all together. this is obviously not good, since now when you ride over bumps your shocks will be bottoming out more often. with weak valving, and now working on much less travel, the shock will not be able to dampen the aftermarket spring as well as the factory setup, this can result in a less comfortable ride, but more importantly the car is likely to be much more dangerous especially over bumpy roads.

however, that is general information for all vehicles, i have no experience with lowering a 240 with only springs. tho for safety alone i would swap out the shocks.

non adjustable shocks are just fine, i havnt gone shopping for anything but coilovers, so im not too familiar with the choice out there, or how they go about describing the valving on them, but see if there is some way to match them to the springs u have, for ride height and spring rate.
