Since it is so low mileage, you may as well try switching, and watch closely to see if you get any leaks. If not, you are in the clear. If so, change back to dino juice.

i don't know if it's different with synthetics but i never run anything lower than 40 weight on a turbo car. Even my friends 1.8t gti uses 0w-40 in the winter. I'm using 20w-50 in the summer and 10w-40 in the winter. Castrol GTX. She runs great on those combos.

I don't blame you, dude. I run 20w-50 year round. But then again, it's hot enough here for this as well. And as for synthetic, if you have the money to throw away, go for it. You can use Advance Auto brand oil and still keep a healthy engine. Just have to change the oil more frequently, but the costs is well and worth the labor. I personally run Castrol syntec blend in all my cars as well as other folks' cars and they're all pretty healthy still. Doesn't really matter what oil you use as long as you're wary of the weight vs the climate.

ya i give my car hell and with a lesser weight oil it would be burned up in one trip to the parts store. LOL. I always change my oil and filter before an event and try and change it soon after as well. Most of the time i skip a filter change after an event if i change my oil seeing as it only had about 30 hard *** miles on it.

I work for Advance Auto and even I wouldn't use that crap, lol. $2.18/qt? That scares me.

I have been running Mobil1 15w-50 since day one. 3 years of daily driving, track days, 7000+RPM shifts, and overboosting (18psi here and there) and no complaints. Even before my oil cooler I never had an issue. Great stuff.

Mine has about 100.000Km and i ve been using synthetic oil (Motul 300V) for the last 2 years which is about 15.000Km. At first i used 15W50 (summer and winter) but in the last oil change i used 10W40 and the car seems to like it better. I m about to change it again so i ll go for 10W40 again. I was worried about possible leaks but haven't noticed anything strange.

Changing to 10W40 from 15W50 i noticed a bit lower oil pressure at idle (about 2 bar = 29psi) but it is fine at higher rpms (about 3.8-4 bar =55.1-58psi at 3.000-3.500rpm most of the times).

I think I might switch to 10w-40 as well. My lifters are always really loud, and we started stocking Royal Purple at work, so I can use my discount.

PLEASE DON'T USE CAPS IN YOUR THREAD TITLE, IT'S REALLY ANNOYING.

(See how annoying that is?)

I prefere to keep the oil above an Xw30 if possible as well. I run 10w40 year round and don't seem to have any problems.

I'm going to use royal purple after I have the bearings broken in, it's only like .30 cents more than Mobil 1 so it's not like I'm dumping more cash into it.
