I got up early this morning to do some 'spring cleaning'

Simple Green + brillo pad + toothbrush + dozen rags + elbow grease =

Tomorrow's project is to clean the firewall and start on the engine. I'm really impressed with how well the Simple Green ate through the grease. I got it at Walmart for under 4$.

Looks really good. Much better than before.

Another little tip. If you want stuff to shine really good, get some Krylon acrylic clear coat spray paint. When I get a camera, I'll take pics of my engine bay with it. Shines like hell now.

Mothers polish will do wonders as well.

Wow what a difference...good job

To clean mine I go to those self car washes they have a special setting "engine cleaner" then high pressure rinse...takes 2 min will make your engine bay shine...

Like so...

nice! I'm sure you can empathize; white engine bays take a LOT of devotion. (and I live on a dirt road to make matters worse)

heh, if i ever took a pressure washer to my engine bay. i think all my electronics would fry, my wiring harness is 16 years old.

As long as the dirt stays outside the engine, i dont really care how dirty my bay is. But I would also have to agree with flimsical, i think my wiring harness would suffer the same fate.

Sorry I didnt reply earlier, they vary in 'coolness' from state to state. in Phoenix, they really do sell everything including liquor. My friend and I go shopping there whenever I visit for my 'neccessities' while I'm in town. In Kansas they don't sell liquor though. You're not really missing anything IMHO. (well maybe cheap DVD's. I got Beverly Hills Cop I,II,and III last night for 6$ apiece

yeah.. I'm a little leery of this happening too. I'm going to take my power-washer to the side of my block and firewall, as far as the rest of the engine goes I'll just get to get down and dirty with my trusty toothbrush

It WILL look like it came off of the assembly line when I'm done, that much I am sure of. EVEN IF IT TAKES ME DAYS!!!
