ok i have a delima, wanted some good opinions on it, well i just turned 16 and have been lookin for a first car (ky law sucks, have to wait till 16.5) and i have a 89 240 hatch sitting in my driveway, 100% stock with auto, paid a whole 300 for it and was planning on swapping it to at least a ka24de and a manual, but now my mom won't let me do either, though she said i can get the engine rebuilt, paint job, switch it to black interior, just like looks stuff, but i want something that will be pretty fast, one of my buddies is getting an s2000 and i told him i might race him at a local strip, but anyway i was thinking of just keeping my 240, get something else that will be very cheap to drive around and do the piggy the way i want, swap it, put a manual in, just a bunch of stuff (yes i know it will take ALOT of money and time and work but it will be soo worth it) i was thinking of getting a 87 or 88 mr2 i found for sale local, any input would be GREATLY appreciated, im open to just about anything, but i only have a budget of about 2500-3500 and i really really want a manual, or if i should just drive around in the nissanTHANKS!!!

You do not need two cars when you are 16.

Insurance on one is already going to be high. Get the 240 running really good and drive that for a while. Do a manual swap, but keep the ka-e if it's in good condition.

YOU DO NOT NEED two cars. I went through the same thing a couple months ago, but I've grown to like my 240 so much, I just wanna dump all my money into it, lol.

If your 240sx drives fine don't get another car. Don't swap it to manual until you are sure you have EVERYTHING

1. Automatic sucks but Its better than nothing.2. Don't piss of the rents to much 3. automatic adapter bearings are a b**** to remove(you have been told)4. the s2000 will crush you even if you are boosting to like 7-8psi

it is better to drive fast in a slow car than drive slow in a fast one right?

What have you been trying to pull it out with, your pen15?

Seriously people a blind hole puller, a slide hammer, and 5 min of your time and its out. The blind hole puller can be rented at autozone.

Did you get yours out of an 89?

I used a bearing puller, slide hammer, grease gun trick, cut it with a dremel, and finally hit it with a chisel/punch til my hands went numb to get it out.

Looks like I have been chewing on it for about 3months.

Keep the 240, get your feet wet and drive it for a while before you start "making it pretty fast" and good luck with it.

I trouble myself with that question daily just about, I don't live too terribly far from work. its like an hour walk (2.9 miles) I want to finally get the work underway. swap suspension and bodywork. but then again, I need something for the winter time. BUTnot having to rely on other people and my own two feet as a mode of transportation is good when I have a car. I would like a second car something cheap yet reliable so that i don't have to pour cash into it to keep it going. work my arse off and blow it on my 240. I hope to find a cheap azz pickup. keep the 240 and just drive it for now.

Thats what I did. I got a nissan 720 parts hauler. They can be found cheap like 500 all day for a 2wd.

Thats your problem you didn't use the blind hole puller the bearing pullers aren't worth a crap as they always flex and have rounded edges that always slip.

take the rents advice, just make it look decent and run properly. take this time in your life to have some fun and not worry about so much s***. down the road think about a build when you have some income rolling in and a place of your own to do what you want to do.

If you want something fast, but a faster car. This is what the Honda crowd has failed to realize for the past 15 years.

I have an SRT-4 (300hp) and my 92 240SX (155hp) in my driveway, (among other things.) I usually pick the 240 to drive because I like driving it. It is nowhere near as fast but I still like driving it, I'm sure you'll like driving yours too.
