i feel like im being stupid but what's the best to connect my ipod to the head unit?

i have the convenience package (I think), with the controls on the wheel, but that's it. there's the "av in" jack on the head unit but what's the best cable or product to connect the ipod.

also does the "av in" charge the ipod.

i dont wanna get something permenant. and i have been using a fm transmitter/charger thingie that works when i can get a radio signal that's open.

thanks for any and all help. again, i feel stupid about this but i cant seem to find what im looking for online.

Go to any music/audio store best buy, circuit city wherever and go to their ipod section, theres a chord in which each end has a head phone jack one plugs into the aux in on your head unit and the other plugs into the headphone spot on your ipod. This chord will not charge your ipod, but in the same section at those stores there is a car charger for your ipod which plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Hope this helps you and don't feel stupid for asking, its all good.

Apparantly you _can_ get a direct interface for the ipod... I thought about it but haven't tried it - so I can't endorse the link below.

Wal*Mart (which we all love to hate) carries the Belkin cable (headphone jack on each end) and it's way cheaper there...

Of course... I'm going to buy the stereo hookup (now that it's available) because then the steering wheel controls will control my iPod... I'm d*** glad that Belkin cord only cost me four bucks...

I also saw a kit on fleabay but I think you cant control it with the radio.I just got the mini to mini (headphone jack) cable and a seperate car charger, works fine.you can control the volume from both the ipod n radio.I leave the ipod vol about 3/4 up and adjust the ipod equalizer.this is better sound quality then the radio frequancy/ipod transmitter.but if the kit in the likn is kosher,i thinks its the best quality out of all other options!this way you will get optimum sound and the ipod EQ wont effect the sound so much.(direct plug in to radio, not another fm modulator!).
