Well, my dad is saling his truck. He is out of work due to shoulder problems, and cant afford to make the payments. He will be out of work till the end of next month at least and most likely until mid June.

2005 Chevy Colorado.

The thing is, I am not a hugh Chevy fan, after owner several in the past and then owning my Sentra and Tacoma, I saw the light. Now of course most of the ones I owned were from the dark ages of Chevrolet and they have come up in quality a lot. And I did like driving his truck the one time he let me. But my dad has this thing with cars, he only buys the base model. I swore I wouldnt get another truck unless it was an extended cab 4x4. I am not even sure if his has power windows. A minor inconvience but the lack of an extended cab sorta sucks. I mean I guess I dont need the extended cab, I have sorta gotten out of the base system phase, so I really dont need a set of twelves back there anymore. The Tacoma had a nice box built for four twelve in it's extended cab. :D I have went from loud to performance oriented. I guess that is what happens when you get old. You start listening to country music and it all goes down hill.

At least pop did get the I5 engine, so she has a bit more go then the 4 banger. $15,300 is his pay off, and it only has like 11,000 miles. And it is is awesome shape. It sits under the car port most of the time and he drives his old POS 85 S10. I know I can go through the local government credit union and get a good rate and payment drafted out of my check each week. So I wouldnt have to worry about making payments and so forth.

So I am not sure what to do. I have really been wanting to get something because the Metro although good on gas, is kinda a crapper of a vehicle. I was thinking more along the lines of an older 4x4 or my friend's step dad bought a diesel that needs the transmission replaced (he's a retired boat, airplane, heavy eguipment, and standard car mechanic so I know it will be fixed right). Good guy to know.

So what do you think. Go for my pop's truck, help him out of a bind, and have a nice looking truck. Or let pop's figure out someone else to sale it too, and go the cheap route. I want to get a house this year, and I should still be able to if I get the truck, but I wont be able to afford to go out and blow money the way I do anymore. Or at least for the next four or five years. Man, I just dont know...

Something about this thread is awfully familiar...

That I5 is the reason I'll never even consider a Colorado.

I'd only take one over a Ranger.

You dad won't have any problems selling the Colorado. Small trucks sell really well.

Unless you really want to help your dad out (or unless he really can't sell it to anyone else) I'd find a truck that's worth paying for.

EDIT:Ahh...THIS is why this thread seemed so familiar:zerothread?id=118633

The Isuzu is identical, but with a better warranty and deep discounts. The I5 isnt very smooth, but it does have plenty of power.

Uh yeah, it is all coming back to me now MOD. lol.

Jesda, it drives pretty good. But I of course have been in a Metro for over a year, and any thing is smoother than that.

I dont know. I just want out of that car. And Normally I dont go looking for vehicles, they find me. This one has found me. Just not sure if I want to spend the money, and not sure if I want a two wheel drive.

Anyway, I let you guys know as soon as I figure it out...

EDIT:PS MOD at least I waited nearly a year before I REPOSTED this topic. (man we got some good smileys)

Well now I'm pissed.

My father decided to be an ***. My mom over hears him telling my sister that I dont need to buy his truck, that I need to get a house.

His truck would be $138 every two weeks drafted out of my check at teh credit union. I mean I piss more away on food and booze than that.

I fully intend on getting a house this year. But if pop's thinks I am frigging driving a Geo Metro for the next 20 to 30 years, while paying for a house, he is out of his every loving mind!

I guess I needed a reminder why I only see my dad and sister once every month or two. Anyway, mom was like, you can call him and talk to him about it. I told her I aint saying nothing to him about it, until I have another vehicle.

Time to buy that used WRX I wanted or more likely that Diesel I need to go look at. Heck for that matter, I think I will hit teh Nissan lot again. They had some fairly decent prices on used Titan 4x4's the last time I was up there.
