hey guys, I've tried a similar question like this before but didnt really get anywhere. I have made some really good connections here in Tokyo, one of them being an EX-designer/engineer from Nismo. I meet with him yesterday for some work I'm having him do on my IS300, and while talking to him, I mentioned I have a 04 Pathy back in the states. He asked me if there is anything I wanted for it. So with knowing what is already available (or more correctly whats not available) for our rigs, I said I'm interested in anything he could recommend. He then basically said that anything thats available for cars, he can make for the pathy too. so, here is your chance to throw out idea's on what you would like to see made for our Pathfinders. I asked about suspension, and he said he has access to Ohlins factory via a design friend, and can make some long stroke coilovers and shocks for the rear to accomplish what ever it is I want. Also engine wise, what ever I want made, can be fabricated from lightweight pullies, cams, pistons, turbo kit, headers, etc, etc.

So the sky is the limit, but time is limited since I'll only be here for a couple more years, and my IS project is going to take a few months for him to finish. start throwing out ideas, and I'll relay them to him. he seems to think that 300hp will be easy to get from our engines, and I'd like to see it happen for anyone who wants it. If I don't get any responses, I guess I'll let him at my truck, and just show you all what is done, but by that time I might already be shipping my cars back to the states, and it could be difficult to make more parts. so let the idea's flood in.

I guess to make it easier, We can basically have NISMO parts for our Pathys! which I think would be cool!

One thing I can think of right now is I wish they had a easy direct fit for a clean trouble free rear drum to disc brake conversion. That might be something I'd be interested in doing if the price was right.

Im sure those that have rims on there trucks would agree.

Here's another, a high output alternator, there may be some out there right now I may not know of, but I haven't seen many in the market.

for High output alternator, check out Ohio Generator. they should be able help you out.

hearders are on the menu right now, they would probably be made with the same high quality that you would expect from Nismo (hand bent/Tig welded) but no ETA on when that project might start.

I too would like a rear disk conversion. I don't think that would be a job for him, but maybe if someone knows someone with a frontier, or new pathy could look at their brake setup and see what the differences are. I can have some things modified by him if need be, but coming up with something from scratch would really cost a pretty penny.

twin turbos , or a Vq35 supercharger ,

custom exhaust including headers all the way back. preferably available in double out, and quad out,

6 spd manual , that would work with the original engine, and mabye even axle, probably a headache to design/find even if he/someone could, but hell im just throwing some ideas out there.

Bag kits, 5" lifts a few offroaders on here and npora i think it is would probably be all over, lowering kits 2", 3", hell mabye even 4", custom headers, Lightweight pullies etc etc.

thats my 0.2 cents

3.5 headers would be nice. A rear drum to disc conversion if at all possible would be awesome! I hate those drums. And yeah, full custom exhaust.Ooh, how about HID projector head lamps? Having projectors for both low and high (instead of just high) would be sweet.A suspension lift would be nice too

-I asked for someone on here who has, or knows of someone who might have a 5'' prado lift kit, I can easily replicate it with high quality japanese engineering. I still want to make it happen, but I've got no leads for acquiring the prado kit.

-Headers for the 3.5 is what I had in mind, since I have an 04 LE.

-Light weight pullies, This is a definate. Actually thats one of the products that my friends company already makes. Who thinks they might actually want these, and for which engine? I think, for each engine, I'd have to make a run of about 30-50 sets. I can probably Ebay alot of them, but I'd need to acquire all the pullies for each engine in order to make this happen. so if anyone has an engine laying around, and would like to help the cause, I'd gladly send them a finished product for their contribution.

6spd manual, I'm positive there are some that will work on the VQ3.3 and 3.5, its just the gearing for them would be set up for street driving, not very functional for a SUV that potentialy could see off roading/towing..Quialfe builds custom 6 speed trans. if someone really wanted one, they run about 7-10K but you can customize the gearing ratios, that would be the way I would go.

Rear disks, like I said, I'd look at what Nissan already offers SUV, and Truck wise, and see how much work it would take to retrofit their brakes onto our rigs...Does the FX35 have rear disks? I dont know but that might be a good place to look?

Projector headlights. I thought of this too, but look at all the stuff on Ebay! they all suck. The Nissan Terrano (pathfinder in japan, and rest of the world) from 96-04 all came with projector headlamps, they could easily be made to have their beam angle changed for the US, or they could be removed and replaced with E46 Bi-zenon lamps. that would be sick! For the most part, I've found a few companies in the us that offer retrofiting work, usually charging 300-1K for complete custom headlights as crazy as your imagination could think of.Look up q45 or E46 retrofit on yahoo/google and you'll find tons of info.

So pullies, headers, and possibly exhausts. not a bad start. The pullies will come first, matter of fact here are some that my friend already makes.

I can have a finished product of all the pullies in about 1 - 1 1/2 months time, so who would want a set?

check this out, I did a search for VQ35 pulleys, and found this

http://www.accoladesportparts....P3IJU

If I made a run of all the pulleys for each engine, the full set would probably end up costing each of you as much as this one pulley is being sold for. I guess when that days comes, I'll end up becoming a supporting vender to this site, and maybe the other nissan boards too.

So replacing the factory pulleys with those would increase gas mileage and horsepower (like that site says)? And that's a lot of money for just one pulley from that site!

there are some here in Japan already for the R50, I've seen them, but am having trouble finding them again, I'll have to have my Japanese friend find them for me again, then I can post them.

in the mean time, this is what I think of when I think of Lowered Pathys

+1 on the headers for the 3.3. What about a set of mild cams? Although it would probably be cheaper to have them custom ground here...

check excessive amperage or mechman alternator. They make HO alternator up to 250 amp that are direct bolt on.

Anything that can increase the horsepower and HID headlight.

ok, It looks like I'll make a set of Light weight pulleys first. Does anyone have a spare engine laying around from a 3.3 or 3.5 that is willing to give up the pulleys? if not, then this project will have to wait until I return to the states and can get to a junk yard, and pull some off from a junk yard. either way, I will make this happen.

A lot as in $1,400? That's how much you can purchase those beauties, plus overseas shipping of course.

Well personally, I wish the 2nd gen QX4 had a JDM sibling, but o well. JDM parts would look pretty sick imo. Performance mods would include, all of the above, and I'd really like a nice exhaust system.

I don't remember where I saw it, may have been on NPORA. I'll see if I can find the link. I think the link was for a New Zealand Nissan dealer who has an online part catalog.

EDIT: Found the link http://www.cockramnissan.co.nz...ights

(You have to convert currency from NZ)

I know, it' nuts. I think it's so high because it includes all of the xenon parts (ballasts, bulbs, etc.).

It looks like they stopped selling the Terrano Regulus in 2000 here, so sorry for you 01-04 QX guys. looks like the best headlight option is to disassemble your stock units, and paint the backing black, and install some 8K hid bulbs... I think that would look better then any other option anyway!
