i am curious to see if anyone has any pics of thier intake setups going into the turbo...the reason I am asking is I have been having serious issues since day one with the car stall suring stop and go driving as well as just cruising around and letting off the gas. I found out why the damn hting was stalling after all this freaking time. as it turns out the MAF was too damn close to the turbo and it was picking up turbulent feedback

this is the turbo intake setup i am currently runningi had to add another 90 degree bend before the MAF to disrupt the airflow to stop it from stalling. the bad news is i am going to have to get it retuned yet again cause now it runs like sliced ***....lol

yeah sorry, had nothing to with a BOV recirc and no im not running a recirc either, but the close proximity of the MAF to the turbo was just too close and a bend in the pipe disrupted the airlfow bad enough to cause the engine to stall even when just blipping the throttle and light cruising .

that's the same way i had routed my hot pipe, from the turbo compressor; i had to trim that side-entry hole a bit wider to allow vibration.

yes they are in tact, but i am fearful of trying to run a blowthru style setup, cause im not too sure the housings of the MAF can handle over 20psi of boost im throwing through it...hehe

The plastic housings will hold at least 25psi.

If you truly think it is a MAF issue, get an Apexi intake filter. Mine is connected directly to the MAF and I dont have any problems. From the looks of that filter, there is no "horn" on the interior of the filter to smooth the intake stream once it passes thru the filter element.

As far as being too close to the turbo, I doubt that too but it is a possibility. Check out my engine pic on the pic thread. My intake goes Apexi intake filter>MAF>90 reducer elbow>4" turbo inlet. That is about as close as one can physically get.

What makes you so sure it is a MAF problem and not the IACV?

Also, shouldn't the turbo center section have the oil feed and drain in a vertical orientation not at 5 and 11?

22psi on blowthru and no dramas here...i think it should hold up to atleast 30 no problem assuming its sealed well.

cause as soon as i put on that 90 degree elbow the car smoothed out and and i could rev it freely and it would come back down to an idle perfectly normal. i spoke with paulR33 on SAU who wrote the Apexi FAQ and he made mention that the intake may be too short or the MAF for that matter is too close to the inlet of the turbo. so i checked it by just putting on that small little 3 inch alluminum elbow which extened the intake by say 4inches or so and the difference was unmistakeable.

the car ran fine but the only issue was the stalling when lifting off the throttle. if you ever had your car stall out on you in traffic then you know what i am talking about.
