god carved the n1 out of a solid iron block, duh!! it's given, hence godzilla......Coolwhip wrote:I know that a RB26 was craved from the finest metal by Michelangelo himself...but an RB26 N1? I don't know what that is but that sounds like science, and science is of the devil!
That wasn't nice.....KlanjacOFF wrote:OMG this is cooler than an SRT-4
and who is gonna make 600hp in a 240sx? i think i can count the number of 600hp 240's in the us on 2 handsATpossible wrote:some months ago i saw the N1 block for sale at nismoparts.com for like 1k less then that ebay auction.
what makes me sad is how you all joke about the rb26 but i guess we could all find engines out here in america and japan for 3-4 grand that can take 600hp without internal modification
haha, I've actually owned 2 of them Just got tired of dealing with FWDRicer Assassian wrote:That wasn't nice.....
. I hear that, Im looking for a 240 now. Just need to find one for the right price, and with a rb swap already done.KlanjacOFF wrote:

I guess if you can accept that the LS engines use 1/2quart of oil every 1k miles, sure they are reliable. GM claims that much oil consumption is normal, and will not fix your engine under warranty if you complain about this. It is in all TSB's. Not to mention the pcv system woes and DOD problems. There are design flaws of both the RB and the LS series engines. I wouldn't hail either of them the end all godsend of engines.Kamin wrote:but just fyi, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine
theres an american motor, thats cheaper than the allmighty RB26, that will make just as much power, for cheaper, and be more reliable.
i dont look up america motors as much as i know you do but i'd say when i was considering a ls1 engine i think i saw prices ranging from 5K maybe 6-7 sometimes if i remember correctly. now used it was like 3-4 on ebay from a crashed vehicleKamin wrote:and who is gonna make 600hp in a 240sx? i think i can count the number of 600hp 240's in the us on 2 hands

I may not be completely correct on this, but the oil consumption issue was only on the 98 and early 99 ls engines. But like you stated all motors have their shot comings, and they are all far from perfect.Racinjitter wrote:

I see it all the time on any LS engine from 97-2008. But the point is moot, as we both agree on.Ricer Assassian wrote:I may not be completely correct on this, but the oil consumption issue was only on the 98 and early 99 ls engines.
