I'm sure you all got the email a month or so ago about PayPal's security issues.

PayPal = owned by eBay.

Well, I've posted only 2-3 items on eBay ever. I don't like the bidding process and I will not concede to the eBay store idea. It's more affordable to create your own website and market it on search engines in some cases than to open an ebay store or place items for bid. (in some cases)

Well, I think this is no surprise to anyone but it's been made public news and I think everyone should read it carefully and understand the way it works. I don't like dealers that cheat people and you better know I don't like online stores and sellers cheating people. It's hard enough to earn someone's trust on the internet as it is. We don't need major companies like eBay making it any harder.

And don't get me wrong, I don't blame eBay personally, but they should take some responsibility as the owners of the service.

I also hate sellers who charge so much for shipping, when Ebay knows it does cost that much to ship those items. No control whatsoever except on how much money they can make off of you the buyer & seller.

As for the upbid issue..those sellers should be banned!!

Yeah, I know people that have done that. It's horrible, ruins the whole system and really ****s up the trust situation. I REALLY hate the shipping thing though. It should always just be "real shipping" charges. I know alot of people don't think to look before they bid at the shipping (as I've done it before), only to find after they think they've gotten a great deal, that they're paying a fortune for shipping. Absolutely rediculous, these people should be shot.

Shipping...another solid reason to buy from a business as opposed to an ebay seller. Having a tax ID opens lots of doors (as I was reminded by another clubs member) and shipping is a lot cheaper for us if we have the right account with the right shipping company. Not everyone in the business chooses to make a profit from shipping but there are some out there.

A recent incident with a guy "in Singapore" would have yielded a $1500 shipping cost. I've heard of businesses doubling that amount just because the buyer is in another country and they need the merchandise. I hate that. I look at everything as a buyer, not just a seller. That's why this thing has gotten my attention so.

If 8 people admitted to this, then how many more are there?...I have to stand up for some of what's called "inflated shipping". Yes some people do inflate their shipping to make a profit, but if it bothers a bidder then he or she just shouldn't bid on that item. You can ALWAYS find out up front how much shipping is before you bid. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone given negative feedback AFTER shipping an item simply because their shipping was too high.

I've run a business previously on eBay, and now I help others expand their businesses to eBay. A lot of what is considered "inflated shipping" is actually shipping which includes packing materials. For an online small business, packing materials can get expensive- especially when you ship large items. For example: shipping a computer. UPS recommends you double-box it and fill it with peanuts. At my local box store, a computer (tower) sized box costs $5.00, you need one of these and then a bigger box to go outside of it which is roughly $6.00. then $1.35 for a bag of peanuts, you need to keep a supply of tape, and then the cost of shipping one of those is at least $20+ depending on where it's going and the weight.

Even if you can get a nice arrangement with a shipping company for a nice price, it won't be THAT nice. UPS offers only $2.00 off counter charge for businesses. I have paid $5.00 for shipping for an item that arrived in my mailbox with a 37 cent stamp attached to it. I wasn't too happy about that because it made me feel like a complete idiot, but sometimes though it may seem like gouged or inflated shipping, it may not always be the case.
