My wife (bless her heart), has give me permission to trade in my 240sx project (she hates car parts laying all over the garage) and my Acura to get a shinny black new 350z sitting at the dealership. So what would you do in my shoes? I cant make up my damn mind!

Well, I take it that if you really wanted to keep your 240 then you wouldn't have asked your wife for permission in the first place. Unless you have an overwhelming desire to keep your 240, I say get the 350z. Also, what Acura do you have?

Its not that i WANT to get rid of the 240, i just really want a 350 also. I could keep the 240, and just trade in the Acura (RSX), But with a baby showing up any day now, im considering droping the project, as i fear car tinkering time will be at a minimum soon.

I know that this is going to sound really 'old-man'-ish, BUT if you're having a baby soon (congrats, btw) then I would suggest having at least one car that makes it easy to get your child's car seat and your child in and out. 2 doors are quite a pain for that.

The wifey has a Trailblazer, so that will work for baby toting purposes. I was considering the G35 route also, but i like the way the Z looks much more.

Gots a 240 now

If wifey's got a Trailblazer then it isn't even a question. The real question is what color? and what rims would look good on this?

I wouldn't hesitate one second to get rid of the 240SX and the Acura for a Z. You can't beat the Z mystique, and the Nismo stuff available through the dealership will make for some sweet modding.

I'd get a Z in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

Hey Big Jon, I'd trade up and get the Z. I know some don't care for the styling, but I'm a fan of the car. There's a great dvd called Best Motoring vol.6 that basically showcases the new Z. It's all Jap spec cars, but they run the Z back to back in a high speed stability comparison test with a stock R34. They run a track "battle" against an M3, S2000, Boxster, and also an R34. Amazing footage. They do a bit of tech break-down, and highlight many of the components that are shared with other Nissan/Infiniti cars. They also talk quite a bit about turn-in, understeer, VDC limited slip, and run the car on a "drift" lap. Overall, if you're not yet convinced, or just want some great tech info about the Z, check it out. It isn't some illegal/rice vid. They run on sanctioned circuits, with skilled professional drivers who give in-car commentaries.

Big Jon. I say do it. I did exactly that. I have a wife and son and I bought a 2 seat 350 and sold my 240. But I recommend having 3 cars total, if you have a wife and baby on the way. 2 of the 3 should be able to hold all three of you in case one of the cars is in the shop for maintenance/repairs. Extremely convenient. The 240sx is an ideal 3rd car. it's cheap, reliable, and fun to drive to boot. Since you won't recoup your mod investment if you sell the 240, why not reassemble it as a daily driver, run the wheels off it, and keep the miles off the Z?

Oh, if you're talking track stuff, I can tell you personally the Z hasterrific grip, but understeers at the limit. It actually handles better on the track with VSD off (you ending up fighting it if you leave it on, that's my experience).

personally i say go with teh Z, if thats what you want, then u deserve it, DAD (HAHA, had to do it, congrats), and besides, if you're wife already has a big trailblazer, thats your family car, and as far as needing a 3rd car for maintenince and stuff, if u have room to keep the 24o around, keep it as a back up or daily driver (assuming its paid off), thats what i would do anyway, also, what model 35o were u looking at>

I think the g35 coupe is way cooler, but if you like the Z.. I agree with most of the others, keep the 240 and get the Z. that way, you have a daily driver to keep the miles off the z and can still tinker with it once and a while....

unless you got the dough to Mod the Z.....

P.S. Are you getting the track edition?

I don't think the track edition Z is worth the hype or extra cost over the touring model. Both have the same engine/chassis/drivetrain/interior. If you plan to driving it on the street, you might want some of the luxury appointments of the Touring, some of which are not available on the track model, and the dang track model costs more! For example , the touring model has heated leather seats, the track model only comes in cloth. There are also tons of Touring models around and far fewer track models which means you'll get a better deal on the Touring medel than the Track. Food for thought

Well i have made up my mind and i am going with the Z (hopefully). All depends on money, i have to go back tomorrow morning and hopefullyi will bring it home. The one im looking at is a black, performance model. I really only wanted the enthusiast, but ill take the performance (all i really want is the VLSD). The track just isnt worth the money in my opinion. Ill buy the brakes straight from brembo, instead of financing them for 5 years.I took it for a drive yesterday morning, they do handle great (i think i scared the saleslady:D ).Anyhoo, thanks for everyones input, ill keep you all posted.

Will you be working on the new Z? doesn't she realize that there will still be car parts in the garage only they'll be nicer and more expensive :D When you get the Z make it your new project.

Of course i will do some modding eventually. Nothing to fancy at first, but i cant resist modding a car, its in my blood. I have never owned a vehicle that didnt have at least an upgraded stereo and a few extra "knick knacks" here and there. Yeah, dont want to pay for the factory track model wheels, i was thinking a nice set of TE37's or CE28's. And the sticker is 31K, but i havnt started "negotiating" yet.
