ahhhhhhh the dreaded tire light (P.I.T.A. light) what it actually sounds like to me is that they did not look the tires over properly (been known to do that myself) and look for pinhole leaks that let air out of the tire slowly, could also be that the valve core in the TPMS stem is not fully seated (hand tight ONLY) or that the TPMS monitor nut and stem are leaking ( torque specs is 11in. lb.). tire light can also be caused by weather temp changes from hot to cold.alexia977 wrote:I recently purchased a 2007 Nissan Versa Hatchback. I've notice the tmps symbol light is on . but the sales agent said the just put air in the tires and forgot to reset the light.
They reset it , I got the car, but 2 days later the light was back on!!! Went to a Nissan dealer here in Sumter and they said the pressure in the tires was low-29 when it should be 36. They put air in the tires and that was it.
Thought that maybe when I bought it they did not put air in the tires after all and went home. A day later the light is back on...I don't know what to do now. What could cause it? The tires are ok, they checked them and I don't have any nails in them. When I start the car the light is not blinking for a minute it's on-steady from the begining. I read in the manual that if it is blinking the tmps is the problem.
I would appreciate any advise, ideas you have for me.
Thanks
I would say you have a leak someplace. NO you should not loose that much air in a week.... a year maybe.alexia977 wrote:they said they looked for pineholes, because if i would have had any I would have paid for reparing the tires, otherwise the car is still under factory warranty so they need to pay for any other issue that is not casued by accidents or simply using the car.
So could be that sensor thing you were mentioning about? i don't get how I can loose so much pressure in the tiers in a week. theyput air in them at the dealership that I bought from and a week later I had 28-29 in my tires. I a week!
On monday again-same scenario, Air in the tires - on Tuesday low pressure light on! really strange...
Thanks for your advise.
DO NOT bring it into the dealer, they will charge you at least $125 dollar to get it fixed. All you should do is bring it into Discount Tire air tire check, and ask them to reset your TPMS. They connect a device into your OBDII connector and reset it. They will do it for free!LibbiPeach wrote:i was wondering what u found out.. i have been having issues with my, what i call, "butt" light as well and am going to have to take it into the dealer as soon as i have some days off work.
First time i saw it come on, i thought that was what it looks like as well as being a pain in the butt.. lol
i cant get the stupid light to go off and have followed all the directions i have read online for filling the tires up with air. I am hoping some have some suggestions to what could possibly be wrong. the tires aren't losing air, but the light doesn't go off!
it seems to be a band aid not a fix if this has happened on more then one occasion.BigBodyV wrote:You might just need to get them reprogram by the dealership or a tire place.
I had discount tire rebuild mine when I had new rims/tires installed.Red Devil wrote:THe stems and the nut around it are aluminum. I suggest you be very careful as a new valve stem is over $100.
I was reversing out of a parking lot and mine went off.LibbiPeach wrote:well if you can believe this, the stupid light was off when i prepared to leave for work yesterday morning. Nothing more was done, i typically drive 60-70mph highway during my daily commute, so i know it wasn't just the fact that i hadn't gone "fast" enough to trigger the light to go off. Talk about frustrating !!!
Don't get me wrong, i'm glad the stupid thing is off, but it should operate the way it is supposed to !!!
Thanks everyone for your input. Hopefully i will have nothing further to add. LOL
I've had this issue after I had some aftermarket Discount Tire TPMS rebuilt kit installed in my stock wheels. The light never went out after driving over 20 MPH. They reset the TPMS for free, then it came on again after a week or two.LibbiPeach wrote:well if you can believe this, the stupid light was off when i prepared to leave for work yesterday morning.
