Title Question

if you buy a car without a title how can u retrieve the title? what does it take, how much and how long is the wait?

Is it a matter of a lost title or something more complicated? If it's just a lost title, the owner can apply for a duplicate speed title and it takes about two days, at least in Indiana. Check with your local BMV and get the real story on the title.

i believe the person who was last on title has to get it for you... then sign it to you. if that person is impossible to contact, stay away from it

I agree with Repo man. If its a simple case of the seller misplacing it, he can get a duplicate title. Might take a few days. I strongly advise you not hand the seller the money until he produces the title, endorses it, and hands it over to you. For all you know, that car may be stolen, or the title has a lien attached to it. "No tickee, no washee." Don't ever buy a car without getting that document. You could easily get hosed.
