I know this is retarded but is there anything bad about doing this?

Basically im using titanium bolts that are going to be threaded into my Greddy intake manifold which is cast aluminum.

This can be rated number 1 for most retarded question asked.

damm .. Titanium is not on my Anodic index table..

hmm i'll have to look into this

using 2 types of different metals that are far appart on the anodic index table cause galvanic corrosion.. ( real simple is .. anodes jump from one metal to the other) the weaker of the two then fails ( corrodes )

this effect has it's good things.. example .. zinc-chromate or zinc-phosphate primers on aluminum parts.. the reaction between the zinc and the aluminum with the help of the chromate or the phosphate create a corrosion barrier

it won't break but it will corrode on the surface so it won't look pretty

Unless you Have a Excellent Grounding system as to were you may hinder the electrolysis process

...... i think i just said something smart

So would you say it would be best to use stainless steel bolts, aluminum bolts or titanium bolts for this? Right now i am just using normal steel but i used the same bolts on my friends CA18 IACV block off plate and within a few days they rusted haha.

I just want to know what the smartest thing to do would be on this so i NEVER have to think about it again haha.

If' you're really worried about corrosion, they do make a paste you can smear on the threads to stop most of the problem. It's what electricians use to make splices between copper and aluminum wire.

i think there saying that corrosion might happen between the two metals so just use antiseeze to prevent corrosion on the bolt or manifold

well i can tell you this much titanium does not rust at all. and titanium is very very strong. i believe its stronger than steel.

Yeah its definitely stronger than steel, however im just worried about the fact of using two metals far apart from eachother on the scale.

I could use aluminum bolts, titanium bolts or stainless steel bolts it just depends on what will be the best choice. If something bad will happen from using Titanium bolts in aluminum then i wont go that route.

the Aluminum would be best

the stainless would work also but if you have aluminum use it

So you think aluminum is the best bet? it is 7075-T6 aluminum which is pretty strong. I would rather not worry about the titanium corroding the manifold, i understand that titanium is probably the strongest option but if it will cause other "problems" per say, then it is not worth it imo.

I am planning on ordering them soon so i want to know and i only want to do this once haha.

This "Retarded question" is not so retarded anymore haha its actually pretty useful info.
