2006 Nissan Titan with 174000 miles on it. I have kept the oil changed every 3000 miles. I have noticed the oil pressure gauge fluctuating when at a stop and idling for a while but thought it was normal since the oil is up to operating temp. Changed the oil and filter yesterday, using the same oil and brand of filter i have used for quite a while now, Mobil 1 oil filter. I did notice that the number had changed a little since my last change. It went from a M1-110 to M1-110A. Supposedly it is better for synthetic and synthetic blends of oil. I drove the truck around several places today without problems until late this evening, I went to fill up with gas. On my way home, just down the street from my house, I noticed the oil pressure gauge go all the way to the high side and stay there until I let off the gas, even then it was still 3/4 way to the high side. Hopefully this is just a filter problem or sending switch issue. The engine is not making any noises nor smoking. Hopefully not the relief valve in the oil pump. Anybody have this or similar problems with their oil pressure doing this. I plan to change out the filter first, then I am going to connect an actual gauge to the sending switch port to see what the actual pressure is.
This has been a good truck, but in the last couple weeks I have had to spend a chunk of change on it. Just replaced the power steering rack and pinion, all power steering hoses, ball joints, and tie rods. I changed the engine oil and filter and was looking forward to driving my truck again tomorrow (have been having to drive my daughter's ford focus, which I refer to as a skateboard)
