9/27/04Nissan Wants Heavy-Duty Titan with DieselAutomotive NewsNissan North America Inc. wants to expand its lineup of Titan full-sized pickups by adding a heavy-duty version with a diesel engine, a top executive says. The automaker has not set a timeline. But it "does not have to redesign everything (in the Titan platform) to make a heavy-duty truck," says Patrick Pelata, Nissan Motor executive vice president for product planning and strategy. The heavy-duty Titan would need a "big American V-6 or V-8" diesel to have sufficient torque, Pelata says, adding that "we will not do it alone." Nissan has not determined whether it will buy a supplier's engine or seek a development partner

I can hardly wait. My F-150 is a great truck, but I want more. Right now an F-250 w/PSD is on my wish list. Hurry up Nissan and build this 3/4 ton Titan with a turbo-diesel from Cummins or Navistar.

Nothing would please me more than to see some Nissan Diesel truck action in USA. My dream truck would be a 4 or 5 cyl turbo diesel Frontier 4x4.

I would like to see a Cummins with a Allison trans but thats just me. I use to work with navistars when I worked for a RV place and they were junk. I cant afford a new truck now but a used nissan titan diesel would be nice a few years down the road.

Off-topic: 574-240SX, I remember seeing your S13 (or one identical to it) at the Drifting Day at the Tire Rack in South Bend, IN on 9/11/04. You and the turbo'd Miata were the best one's on the track IIRC. My son and I were there spectating. We were in the blue F-150 Screw w/topper that made it look like a long Expedition. Good times!
