So I bought my car from a crappy dealer and I immediately had to replace all 4 tires. That was 12,000mi ago and the Goodyear Stilletos I put on it are nearly bald. The shop that put on the tires guaranteed them with a 50k mi warranty but I voided it when I rotated the tires myself. Apparently we can no longer rotate our own tires because places like the crappy shop I went to needed documented proof that they were rotated - specifically at their shop by paying their little $30 rotating fee.

Any suggestions as to what kind of [cheap] tires I could get that are good in the snow? I was all over the road with no traction whatsoever with the Stilletos so sport tires will not happen again even if they say "all-season."

I live in South Bend, IN, and we get several feet of snow at a time when we get lake-effect snow from Lake Michigan so something with excellent traction would be prefered.

I'm running BFG Traction T/A's. Great all season tires.

You're pretty close to Tire Rack.

What size tires/wheels are you running? The usual all season tire recommendations tossed around are Kumho Ecsta ASX, Yokohama AVID V4s, Pirelli PZero Nero M+S, and Bridgestone RE960AS...but here in California we don't really deal with much snow. :o

I just put some new model Falken ZE-912 in a 225-50-17 on my 02 I35 sport. They are replacing the ZE-512. I had all four mounted and balance plus my front end aligned for $560. http://www.falkentire.com/main.htm

Honestly, I don't know what size originaly came on my car, but whatever it was, the spare tire in the trunk is the original size. The tires on my car now are WAY smaller than the spare, so if I were to ever have a flat, Id be SOL, (and driving down the highway at an angle because my spare is probably to be 3 sizes bigger than what the tire shop said my car needed) No wonder my car feels like its riding on the rims!!! The tires the shop put on cheaper tires because I said I needed cheap tires, but what they put on are less than 1/2 the size of the originals!! Im practically riding on the rims when compared to the original size spare in the trunk!!!

Tecnically, I voided the warranty when I neglected to rorate the tires, but even with the 50Kmi warranty, the tires would still end up balled well before the 50k mi warranty was over.

Any auggestions as to what I could tell the tire dealer? (Basically how to tell him I'm not leaving without new tires without sounding like an idiot?)

I would think that an actual Goodyear dealer would support the warranty on the tires, regardless of who did the rotation.. I'd try calling, and see what they say.

From your signature picture you have a I35 sport. So your OEM size should be like mine. 225-50-16. The eight spoke wheel are sport wheels and the OEM size on a non sport are 215-55-17 with the six spoke wheels.

I35 sport package is 225/50/17, regular I35 is 215/55/17.

I wouldn't touch RE92's... RE92's, Toyo Proxies A05, Goodyear Eagle RS-A's, they're all common OEM tires on cars in this market segment, and they're universally known as teflon deathtraps for their resounding lack of grip under all conditions.
