I've been a member of this forum for a little while now and I really enjoy all the quality info that is available on here. That being said this will is my first post, b/c so far I have either been able to find my answers on here or the world wide web. Late last Fall 2009 I purchased new rims and tires for my 2008 2.5s Altima Sedan. The tires are Falken ZIEX 912 235/40ZR18's . They haven't even lasted a year! I don't drive like a bat outta h*ll and since I work for the Fire Dept. I only go back and forth to work once every 3 days. Since I put these tires on my car I have only accumulated 9,000 miles.I also have my tires rotated every 3000 miles when my oil is changed. I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts/personal experiences with tires and could guide me in the right direction. There has gotta be some low profile tires that will last longer then that! Thanks for your assistance in this matter!

40 profile on 18's seem a little on the low side, usually everyone runs a 45 profile... your alignment could be out. usually if your toe is off it chews up tires pretty qucikly without you even realizing. when you rotate them make sure you rotate front to back and not left to right. Hope this helps.

i've heard good things about the kumho lx platinum tires, they have a really really high treadwear rating, they're nicely priced as well. they're not summer tires though, they're all season if that matters.

After pricing some tires on the net and then around town I talked to my local mechanic (who wouldn't be biased since he doesn't sell tires) and he mentioned that Michelin makes a really good tire if you don't mind the price. He mentioned the Hydroedge by Michelin is what he has on his rides and that an "all season" is a necessity due to our diverse seasons. Unfortunately, they don't make my size in the Hydroedge, but I found good reviews for the Michelin Primacy MXM4 & the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The mxm's i know that they used to bubble easily with potholes, not sure if michelin corrected this. It's also a more luxary tire as opposed to performance. Many cars use the mxm as an OEM tire out the dealer. The pilot sports are suppose to be really good all around and is a more performance oriented tire. Be sure to check your alignment when mounting the new tires also.

07wHiTE you mentioned that you prefer a more luxury style tire. I would rather have something of those sorts since I'm not out burning up the track. I'm just having trouble finding a tire for my size rim that is anything but "performance". What luxury tires would you recommend for and 18inch rim. My current tires are 235/40R18.

you can run a 225/45/18 or 235/45/18... i ran toyo proxies 4 on my 6 spd TL then transferred those tires to my STi with a total of about 55k miles between both cars with some 1/4 mile runs at englishtown raceway and they still has about 10k miles left on them... Then you have some people that says they didn't last for them... However in my experience i loved them for how quiet they were and how well they perform in the east coast all season weather. They also lasted longer than expected. I just got a set for my brother-in-law's 08 g35xs and he loves the way they perform on the twisties and how quiet they are. Just rotate every 7500 miles and you should be fine.

If it were my car and you are ok with spending a little more money to get a lot more tire, I'd go with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Tire Rack has them for $199.00 (each). Pay attention to rebates too.
