Found a screw in my front tire yesterday...time to replace the stock crappy tires with something better. My question is, what brands should I stay away from...what has everybody used when the time came?

Also, did you use the stock size? TireRack.com lists the optional sizes:

245/35 19 front275/35 19 rear

Has anyone used these sizes for the 19" rims?? They should be a little wider and stick out from the rim to help with curb rash.

I'm kind-of ticked off, because the car only has 17,500 miles, and the tires need to be replaced! I don't race, do burnouts, or autocross. I'd really like a tire that will last longer and give the same or better performance...and not spend a crazy amount of cash. Help!

hmmm, the tires only have 17k miles on them. What tires were they? I've been using falken ziex on my other car,and they work really well. Also you could try kumho exstas or yokohama avs 100's. Just check out tire rack for maximum performance tires or maximum a/s performance tires. I have to say the ziex have done really well in the rain and snow, and aren't bad in water either.

Would 255/35's fit on the front 8" rims? They don't have many tires available for the stock sizes!

Going with the Goodyear Eagle F1-DS3's.

According to my tire guy, 255/35-19s will fit on a minimum of 7.5" rim, so I should be good. The 30cc wider tires will only be 0.1" shorter than stock (total tire height).

My local shop can get them mounted/balanced for less than the total cost of the tires through TireRack.com...? I was under the impression that they would be hard to beat!

($1,169 shipped for tire rack and $1,172 including being mounted and balanced with local guy)
