In the case of some of you that have owned your M35 longer, which tires do you think work the best with this car in terms of quietness on highway and smooth ride all around?

I've decided I'm going to try the Michelin Primacy MXV4. I plan to put them on in the spring when the winter tires come off. All the reviews I've seen show them to be the quietest overall on different road surfaces. I was tempted to get PS2's (again) but I need to reduce the noise on my 14 hour drives. Getting old...

I have an 06 m35x and put on a set of Yokohama Avid W4s this spring. I really like them. I have a friend with an FX 35 he ended putting Yokohamas on his auto and is very happy.

I also got the Michelin Primacy MXV4. Not quite as sticky as the OEM tires, but it was a good compromise for increased comfort and lower noise. Had to give it a good 3000 miles to break-in.

Has anyone tried Kumho Ecsta SPT's? I am looking to get a set of those for my 20 inch rims. I had them on 19 inch on my previous car, and they were great. A bit noisy, but great tire, nevertheless. I looked at the reviews and comparison tests on Tirerack, and they seem to be among some of the best tires. DIRT CHEAP, too...

I also installed a set of the Yoko Avid W4's -- they now have 14K on them and they look less than 1/2 worn. They were very quiet from day 1, are still quiet today, and grip like velcro in the dry and the wet. I absolutely LOVE these tires. The fact that they look agressive is icing on the cake.

I've NEVER installed the same brand/style of tire on a car twice, always believing there was something better, but unless there is a tire ephiphany, I will install another set of these in a heartbeat (and I have always been a "Michelin Man" up until this point). That's what's on our EX35 - I made the dealer swap out the Bridgestones for the Michelins on the EX my wife wanted, before I'd sign the check - they don't come from Infiniti with Yoko's or I would have done that instead! The Michelins are quiet and ride OK but do not have quite the grip the Yoko's do).

Probably can't go wrong with either Michelin or Yokohama's -- let us know what you decide.

I have the Goodyear RSA tires with about 26K miles on the clock and still significant tread left. There is very definite tramlining issues with these tires (severe enough that you have to be very diligent on uneven roads), the tire noise is excessive for this car, but the tires do a commendable job with dry traction - I am running around 35 PSI cold.

I plan to change to the Bridgeston Serenity tires - still a high performance touring tire, but an extremely well balanced handling tire (with little tramlining traits), with exceptional wet handling performance and is extremely quiet on the road. Bridgeston seems to have hit a home run with this and the earlier LS-V tires. I have used both models on BMW 530i, and have been really impressed.

I spoke with Tire Rack on a tire suggestion - the sales guy has an A6 and he is thrilled with the tires; believes there is none better for a high performance touring tire.... the same sentiments that I had with them.

I hope to see a response from someone with these tires, but plan to install them in the spring after the present tread is consumed.

I put on Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas and they are fantastic. I just put on my Vredestein Wintrac Extremes for the winter. I haven't driven them in snow yet, but I have read that they are highly recommended.

For those of you that have a sport package and need 19" tires, tirerack has a nice sale going on 255/40/19 All Season Michelin Pilot Sport AS for $165/ea (down from $291).

According to some on this board, the tires fit the stock 19's and have room to spare when on the car.

I got me a set to replace my summer RE050 and will let you all know how they fare over time.

BTW, I though about getting winter rubber instead, but we just don't get enough snow/cold temps here in Northern Kentucky to warrant a separate set of wheels/tires, IMHO.

Hi Nadzak:

I had some Kuhmo (Korean) tires on an Old Aurora in 2006 and I cannot recommend them for even a field tractor! They road like made of hard plastic, wore viciously on both outside edges with an alignment, and were toast in 26,000. They were grippy due mostly to the plus 2 size I choose, but the ride was aweful. So, I would go to tirerack.com and look at the Michelin Pilot sport A/S that are on clearance. I just got my 4 to go on the 07 M35X and will report back when mounted. I have the Tramlining issue and want to see if this takes care of it.

I just put on a new set of 245/45/18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. I replaced the OEM tires on my 06 M35x. I had all the same complainants about wondering and poor grip all the way around. I am blown away at how good my new tires are. Wet or dry these things have great grip. I just drove in 3 inches of snow today. Stopping and starting was very good, better than my 4WD 07 4-Runner. I live in Indiana so I drove to Tire Rack and had the tires installed, they only charge $15 a wheel. My installed cost was only $640. My buddy told me be about these so I purchased some. Now he is pissed because he paid $250 plus $25 install or $1100 three weeks ago. Copy this link

I'm considering buying these as well. What has sold you on them?

What others were you considering?

Longevity is about the only thing that the RSA does do well. Unfortunately, the rest of the performance is poor to mediocre. Yes, I would strongly recommend switching away from them.

Plus, if they are more than 5 years old, then change them out now rather than wait - the rubber has probably hardened to the point where it could be unsafe.
