Hello all, I have a question regarding tire size. I have a 97 Maxima GXE and the stock size I have now is P205 65 R15, and my friend is selling P205 70 R15 winter tires which I am interested in buying...but I am not sure if they will fit or be safe to use. Is it possible to fit a 70 R15 size on a 65 R15 rim?

The tire is the same width and will fit on your rim no problem. They should be safe to use unless there is something actually wrong with the tires and you don't exceed the speed rating for them.

That size tire (205/70/15) is taller than your stock tire. There could possibly be an issue of it rubbing something, like your fender when you turn or part of the inner wheel well.

You should probably just test fit one on the front and turn it side to side to make sure it clears.

Otherwise, you should be OK. Your speedometer will be a little more than 3 percent too slow, so if you speedo says 60, you will be going about 62.

Walmart will mount the tires on the rim but they won't physically put them on the car since it didn't come with that size. When I bought new tires for the 17in 350Z rims I had on my 97 SE, I actually had to borrow their jack to put the wheels back on the car.

they will work just fine. you're only adding less than an inch on overall height. this equals less than a half inch in diameter. as long as the tread on the tires you plan to buy is good, then i say go for it.
