I'm needing some new rears soon. Have about 20K on fronts and backs, but the pass. rear is down to 3/32nd.The driver's is probably 4/32nd.

So, anybody else have SDrives and what do/did you think of them??(Overall, I've been very pleased with wet/dry handling, but would like to get a few more miles out of the rears....but, maybe that's my fault...)

Thinking about another set for the rear.

My Nissan Dealer says they can get Kumho Escta ASX for $125 each......

I would rather stay in the $125 each ball park.

Would like something that could possibly handle a little snow, but not a nessicity.

Opinions??

I haven't used SDrives, unfortunately. I like a good all-seasonal tire. I've been very happy with the Yokohama Advan S.4 tires that I bought to replace the OEM Goodyear Eagles when they wore out. The Advan S.4 tires are quieter, and handle better in wet, dry, and snow conditions.

I've found tirerack.com to be a great resource for researching tires and reading user reviews. You should be able to get a feel for what G owners think of SDrives at the site.

I had the Sdrives on my 05 and love 'em! Felt better than the Toyo's.

Rich,

I bought the Dunlop signature series and it works good. Few weeks ago we ended up having quite amount of snow. It handled awesome. Have them for about a month now with 2k miles. Good on dry and wet road also. It seems like they'll last longer then the OEM ones.

zozo, I don't see that they make a 235/50/17

So far, looks like I'll be going back with the SDrives.....but, will keep looking for a month or so.

Ahh I forgot about the size different. It is a great tire for the price. So far I love it. I guess there isn't many other options with not being overpriced.

I bought the S Drives couple of years ago. It's a little louder than the oem tires. Besides that, I don't have any major issues.

I liked them they are quieter then the Kumho's but they didn't give as much grip.

I will go back to Kumho SPT's next time I need tires probably around 100,000-105,000

I had an sdrive loose a patch of rubber on a trip to Tucson. I made it home and bought tires the next day. The only 255/50/17's in town were Nitto 555's and Primewell from Firestone. I went with the Primewells and now have them on all 4 they are okay. Good grip a little loud. When they break traction there is no warning and its FUN to get them to recover. A great drifting tire.

If you want a superb, affordable tire... look into the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.

They are the most amazing tires I have ever used. The first change I made to every Audi was to put on Vredesteins. When they put out the Ultrac Sessanta- it was h e a v e n!

Google it.

the only size that looks like it might work on a G sedan is the 245/45/17 in my experience with 45 series tires the car bottoms out on almost everything

Ah Sean it is THE internet. You can be anybody. LOL

Rich it seems like the Kumho is less $ and less capable. At least it seems like from the posts above.I think it comes down to the point if you want to spend the extra $$ to gain a little more. I'd stick with All seasons so you can drive atound when it gets colder too maybe in light snow also.

So, I'm pretty stupid about tires. I'm picking up my 6MT sedan tonight. It has summer tires. So, I'm not supposed to drive these in the snow, of course.

What happens if I change to all-season tires after the first set wears out? Will this affect performance? Should I still not bother driving this RWD car in any snow?

If you plan to drive your car in snow. You better off getting snow/winter tires. All season tires are ok but the combination of RWD and All season tires isn't good. Get a set of snow tires ands rims and change over when the temperature gets cold. If you only have few snowy days you can get away with all season.

It all depends on the area you leave. How snowy and how well they keep the roads clean.

Summer tires are worthless in cold/snow.

^^ Zozo is part Snowman, so listen to him!!

I test drove my summer only S-drive's in some snow/ice.....I decided to not leave my neighborhood road!!!!!

But, the wifey has an X, so the coupe stays parked when snow/ice.

My Advan S.4 tires were great this winter. I get more snow as I'm further north. You may not need the Advans. The S-Drives may be perfect. Just check the ratings online.

Leaning toward the Advan S.4 now....I talked to a Yoko specialist and he told me that the S.4 out performed the S Drives on their track tests. Plus, they don't have 'You will Die If you Drive in Snow' stamped on them!!

make sure you take a look at the tires in my signature...

TOYO Versado LX

they are M+S rated and are very quiet with a 40k warranty, they are about $170 a tire though...

Had bad experience with toyo on my pathy...

Had RE750? on my Cobra and they were great!

But, now leaning toward an all season performance tire.

OK, Anybody have experience with: Continental Extreme Contact DWS ????Was told by a local tire dealer that they were great!

Advan S.4 or Continental Extreme DWS......

Also, thinking more about getting a full set and selling my fronts on CL

I missed it...

I love my Toyo T1Rs. I've got good treadwear out of them plus I've driven them in snow and they actually stop really well in the snow.

The tires I had before were Yokohamas...and I pretty much like anything Yokohama based off my experiences with them.

Let us know how the new tires are.

Rich I used to have Falken 912 on my 07 after the OEM was gone. The 912 is upgrade from the 512. Supposely the 512 was lauder then the 912. I grade my 912 in pair with the OEM and they did not lost longer either.

Also the 912 was slippery when they worn down to 5-32. I did not mind it since the X was still well manageable. They were excellent when they were new.

Continental Extreme Contact DWS - UHP all seasonJust got them installed. Initial impressions compared to S Drives - UHP summer

Pros QuieterA little less bumpyHandles good thru the twisties this AM (did not push it too hard)Can rotate - side to side50,000 warranty - so should last longer than 20K...hoping.

Cons Spins from start equally as ez if not ezier than the S DrivesCost moreDon't think they look as good as the S DrivesDon't think you feel as connected to the road as the S Drives felt.

At 20K, the S Drives had 6 - 7 32nds on the front (for sale on CL )

2 - 4 32nds on the read(again, I don't push it too hard either)

The S Drives were great!!! THey did get a little louder as they wore, but they had great grip in dry and wet conditions.
