Hey all,

This is my first post on Nico! Im looking for some new tires for my 2003 QX4, I hope you guys can guide me in the right direction. I am currently running 245/65/17 size tires and they are in dire need of replacement. Im going to take the truck up to Tennessee for school and so I need tires that can handle some light snow and ice as well.

The truck is in great condition! Immaculate! Im super happy with her and so want to slap some nice tires on there. I am going to keep the QX4's stock suspension height and so would like you guys to recommend me the largest tire I could throw on the stock QX4 with no rubbing and no modifying of the wheel well what so ever.

Preferably, I would like some beefier tires on the truck to give it a little sportier of a look and feel. I was thinking 265/65/17 or 265/70/17 What do you guys think? Would either of these tire sizes fit with no rubbing at all?

I was also thinking of swapping out the wheels for some new ones, but I am not entirely sure about that yet. What I do know is that I need to get some new tires ASAP. Also, if you guys could recommend types of tires with some semi agressive tredding (all season or all terrain type tires) that would go well with the QX4, I would appreciate it.

Ill post some pics tomorrow of how the truck is currently looking. And then ill post the pics of the truck with the new tires, hopefully by the end of this week!

Thanks!

I've run different size tires on my truck (stock suspension), and would not recommend going higher than a 255, either 65 or 70.
The 255's I ran almost touched the bottom of the front struts. Very little space. I suspect that 265's will touch.
As for make of tire, that one is tough to answer.
Ask 10 guys for their opinion, and you'll get 10 different recommendations.
My next tire will probably be Michelin.
The only thing I can tell you from personal experience is this: don't run Goodyear Wranglers. Worst tire I ever had.

Buzzman,

I am seriously considering getting 255/70/17 BFG Rugged Terrains. This is the new tire BFG has brought out as a good option between the long trail tours and the all terrain TKO's. In terms of the 255/70/17 tire size. You said you had these on your stock qx4? How was the fit with these tires on the stock suspension? Any rubbing? I am not looking to do any cutting of the fenders or modifying at all. I just want to fit the biggest, sportiest tires I can on the stock suspension of a qx4. I know the 255/65/17 will definitely fit, but id like to go with the 255/70/17 if I can. What do you think?

To anyone out there reading this thread. Please post pics of your qx4 or pathfinder with stock suspension and bigger than stock tires. I would really appreciate all the help and input. I need to decide on these tires within the next few days!

Thanks!

Just reading thru the post but not clear if anyone actually use 255/70/17 (31") on stock rim of QX4 and stock suspension without any rubbing. I'm seriously considering 255/65-17 but that's only 30" tire with a gain of 1/2" from stock and 31" with 255 width seems to be the best choice for me.
