Hello! I'm wondering what a great tire would be for the rain? I did a search and can't seem to find a recommendation for the coupe. Seems I hardly touch the gas and I'm skidding. The tires I have on are almost new but, seem awful. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I've got Yoko S-drive's on my 04 G35C and like them in the rain just fine!

What tires you've got on that beast?

It would help if we know what size are you running on all around.

Try tirerack for sarching by car and wheel size. It has a good review for tires too. Rated for different conditions.

I have 17" Potenzas right now which are in excellent shape. They have approx. 10/32nds left on them.

If you have the Potenza summer tires. You might want to drive a little more carefull. 300 hp can slide the rear end out easily. If you have the all season tires it should handle the wet traction better.

I would also check tire pressure too. You can hydroplanning if the tire pressure is low.

I just doubled checked and they are RE92's. Looks like they rank pretty low on the Tire Rack site for wet weather. Thank you for referring me to that site. They recommend the Michelin Pilot. Gonna look into those. Suggested an Ultra High Performance All Season for me.

Thanks again! I've been sliding all over the place, even while driving real slow!

Bought the car with them on and they were new so, we left them. My hubby manages the Goodyear in Hartford and had some others in mind but, I talked him out of spending the $$$. Every time it rains, I kick myself. He said lots of people seem to like the Pilots but, wanted opinions on actual owners of the coupe. We'll see what he can come up with for a price on Monday!

BFG G-Force Super Sport A/S.

They are damn sticky for a 400 UTQG (treadwear rating) and are awesome in the rain. Beat the Yokohama ES100's without question. Mind you, I drive in the rain 3/4 of the year.

I use the Toyo Proxes T1R---excellent tires---all weather. With VDC ON in the rain, you can run it as hrad as in the dry and you won't hydroplane. I have 12,000 miles on mine and they still grip like when they were brand new. I still run them hard with confidence.

Here is my post on new tires purchased earlier this year.

http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread?id=307229

I ended up purchasing from the dealer because the price difference between the dealer and local shops was small. I also did not want to end up with an issue of the tire pressure monitor sensors and end up possibly having to return to the dealer. It is always a good idea to check with the dealer parts department and get a price for just the tires. Then ask service for a quote to install them. That way service does not mark up the price of the tires and the final price may be very close to what an independent shop charges and you'll get a new loaner to drive as well as a free breakfast while they work on your car.

With 21k miles on my OEM tires they perform well in both heavy rain, snow and ice so I am happy with them. Whatever you decide check the date codes on the tires before they are mounted and installed on your car.

A few months after purchasing the new tires from the dealer, I became aware that two of them were from 2003. The one above was manufactured in the 48th week of 2003. The dealer replaced both tires at no charge. ABC news did a story on dangerous automobile tires and you can find it on youtube.
