Are 245/50/17 too big for the Q45? Has anyone put a similar set on your car and experience any problems? In other words, are the tires too wide or the aspect ratio too high that it would rub against the fenders or any suspension parts?

Thought I had replied to this thread? Not a double post, I hope.

Depnds on the wheel size and offset, which you do not reveal.

255/45-17 is ideal if you have the correct wheel.

What is the correct wheel?

Wide ... 8 inches or more for the 255s. Also, the proper offset, so nothing rubs - roughly 30 mm.

Here's a great discussion about wheels and tires for the G50:

17x8.5 is a little better, +30mm - 35mm offset.

Also read the tire sticky in Infiniti General and feel free to add to it, but please follow the format as something like "I'm cool and rolling Nittos on Dubz" doesn't contribute much valuable data as you will notice when you read the sticky and view the entries by those who are too cool......

I have been running 255-45-17 on 8 inch wide wheels on the rear. 8.5 wide wheel would be ideal, but I've actually been extremely happy with the 255s. If I can get away with the same setup in the front I intend to go 255 all-around in the spring (replacing the 245s that were on the front before; directional AND staggered is just inconvenient, and my two 255s are not yet in need of replacement).

The 245-50s would be about a half-inch taller than a 255-45. The 255-45 is more beneficial with more contact patch. Probably pricer, too, though. But also probably better variety in the 95+ load rating range.

Remember the TOTAL contact patch area is primarily a function of weight on tire and PSI.............................. of course a wider tire has a wider shaped patch just shorter in length.................not a perfect correlation but close.

If sideways stickson [ fishtailing] is more important a wider tire is beneficial why some stagger rear tire width.
