So ive been wanting to get 20's for my a/c but found a good deal on 18 tenzo rims so i might do that instead to save money. the only thing im not sure about is the tire size. i was thinkin of getting 225/40/18 but idk if that would cause any issues with things like the odometer reading alot more miles than i actually travel? can i get that reset at the dealership? I used the calculator that mhendi found and it said it was a -4.1% difference? do you guys think it would just be better to stick to getting 20's ? :gotme

There isnt enough information in your post.
Tire sizes are determined by the 2 dimensions of the wheel, you only listed one!
18x?
225 corresponds to the width, 40 is the height(profile) and 18 is the wheel.

You can get 18s, or 19s, or even 15" wheels... as long as the wheel/tire combination is in the neighborhood of the factory you are good to go...

Taking that into consideration, try a different tire size, bringing it closer to spec, if its 5% over, it shows 80 when you are going 84... No biggie.

For the 3.5s, the OEM tire is 215/55/17. The speedo is set to that specific tire size. Any bigger, then the speedo will reader slower than your actual speed. Any smaller then the speedo will read faster. If you decide on 18s, the optimal tire would be 235/45/18. I was running 225/45/18 and got a deal on 225/40/18s. There is an 1inch (1/2 an inch on each side) difference in diameter between the tires. Half an inch may not sound a lot but when your car is only 2 3/4" from the ground, 1/2" makes all the difference in the world! :yesnod

the rim is 18x8. if i ran 225/40/18 the overall rim and tire diameter is -4.1% from the OEM rims and tires. i have a 2.5 with the 215/60/16 tires. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... OTORS:1123 these are what im looking at. do you guys think this would be a good deal depending on what tires they offer? i asked but they havent replied as to what tires they can offer.

Hey Bro,

Check out http://www.elementwheels.com/proddetail ... pemv2188bm

I was looking at those same exact wheels, this place says they will sell a set of 4 for under 900. and they can put any tires you want on them. Buying from a shop like this might be safer then buying on ebay too.

with 18's you might want to go with a thicker profile. 225/45/19 is very close to oem size, so for 18's i'd say you want to be atleast 225/45 or even 225/50 to get closer to spec. but then again as long as you're within 3%ish you should be ok. a good place to get tires for a good price is tirerack.com, just make sure you research what tires to get, cause there's tons to chose from.
