Ive had my G for almost a year and a half and I put it in sport mode with VDC off and floored it and it chirped going into second gear. i know our cars have alot of torque, but i didnt expect it would get that like. pretty nostalgic, as it reminded me of my Z28 i had that would white smoke the tires sitting still through 3rd gear.

"Smoke 'em if you got 'em". :yesnod

That's the only thing that gives me any regrets about AWD, but after an Audi and 3 Subies, I'm stuck on it.

I had a 70 Torino with a 351 Cleveland that would do what your Z did. Part of was that the thing was so front heavy and light tailed, though. You had to have lightning reflexes if you pushed it hard enough into a corner to get the back end to break loose.

Be careful now ... there are a lot of stories in the forums of "incidents" occuring because the owner did something stupid with the VDC off. ;)

^Agreed. If you're going to do something stupid, you should leave the VDC engaged.

There are also lots of posts by people who routinely disengage the VDC when they start the car. Me, for instance. I leave it engaged only when the roads are slippery.

You are still only feeling so much hp and tq from the ecu controlling the output, not anywhere near the max. If you wanna feel the max, do 80mph and punch it, that is the gold. If its wet, even with VDC on, depending on choice of tires, you can get the car sideways easily into 3rd. If you have the 5 speed, of course.

My car kicks out no problem. 4th gear on the 5speeds is max hp/tq 5th is just cruise.

yeh when i had my z28 i have had way too many close calls with the rear end getting squirrely. i'll refrain from being too wreckless. these cars are definitely amazing though. i try to be a mild driver so theres no true reason for me to run VDC off. i just wanted to play at that moment.

I drive with the VDC off as well (except in hwy or wet conditions). I've noticed that it feels safer because if I have to get out of the way, I don't have to worry about the VDC kicking in and cutting throttle.

joe, did you ever figure out a way to have it default to off? i think the only solution is getting that splice-in deal from the same company you got your nav-hack stuff

The only way I've found is to use the module...

I let a kid in my car club drive my Z28 once, I RARELY let anybody drive it, but I figured he was ok. I had my Hypertech programmer on firm shift (auto). It would hit 2nd like a MoFo. When he came back he told me that he almost lost it because it hit 2nd in a curve. I would have killed him, but I guess I should have warned him.

:chuckle:

Since I had it reprogramed after my supercharger install, it doesn't shift nearly as hard. I loved it when it hit that hard. It was almost impossible to take off with any heavy throttle and it not chirping the tires. Love to drive that car. :yesnod
