Hey Guys. I am lowered on S.techs, while getting an oil changed, I asked my service guy to rotate my tires but I noticed my rear left tire got eaten bad due to camber (sorry no pix, will take one once I remove the tire)
Money a little tight right now, been laid off for a month now,
My buddy has 2 good tires laying around size 245/45/19 but my current tire size is 245/40/19, will it be ok if I put the 245/45/19 on the rear until I can afford to get the correct size?

Your profile says you have an RWD M35, so I don't see why not. Even if you were AWD, I dont' know if that size is drastic enough to affect the AWD system. You should be good. It may throw off your speedometer just a bit, but shouldn't be by much.

That would be enough of a difference to cause problems if your car was AWD, but if its just RWD, then yeah you're fine go for it. Like he said, the speedo will read slightly slower than your actual speed now, so take that into account when passing by cops :chuckle:

Alright guys, as promised here is a pic of my badly eaten tire from negative camber, rear driver side tire, if It wasn't for the oil change, I would of never noticed it, got lucky, in a way
These were new tires and only lasted a little bit over a year, what a waste!!!!
What would you guys recomend rear camber arms or will just the toe bolts do ?

Slower? Wouldn't it be faster than the speedometer says since the tires are a bit taller, meaning each revolution of the axle makes the car go a little fit further?

Please permit my intrusion. I have a stock 2006 M45 Sport. Would you be suggesting that I'd be ok with 245/45/19? Wouldn't it rub if I had rear passengers and luggage in the trunk?

It will not rub, I used that size for quite a while on my car. I also have used 255/40/19 which is similar height and wider as well. Currently I am on 255/35/19 because I am doing more of performance stuff on the car rather than extra soft ride.

I'm on 245/40/19 and lowered 2" and I only rub when the car is PACKED (no useable space with 4-5 people and full trunk of luggage - as it was when I went down to FL with 4 ladies :chuckle: . That's right, me and 4 ladies. Trip backfired, by the way. Did not get the lady I wanted hahahaahah  ).

This is with all four of them in the car + luggage but me outside of the car (220lb, taking the pic obviously):

That's exactly what I said, the reading on the speedometer will be slightly slower than the actual speed of the vehicle. Same as gearing the vehicle up. Had this bite me in the a** once when I had just installed a J30 diff in my S13. J30 has a slightly taller rear end ratio, so when I passed the cop going the other way thinking I was doing 28 in a 25, I was actually doing 33. Needless to say that was a long night...
