This has probably been beaten to death, but here goes anyway. I have an 06 M35 with 245/45R18 Goodyear RS-A tires. As everyone knows, they suck. Looking for new tires. I want quiet, good ride, long mileage, all-season. Please share experiences/recommendations. thanks

good answer I believe he wants answers from us Infiniti owners, not tire rack.

My 18's are Bridgestone Potenza(sp) and they were excellent and they were not that bad as far as noise. Now, remember that these are low pro/peformance tires, so be prepared for some road noise. My 20's are BFGoodies ComT/A's and they are great as long as they are warmed.

good luck

I am not sure if your M is 4 or 2 wheel driver. My M is rear only. Blizzack's are great for snow country. I think I just have to live with changing tires every season. Going to put the sport tires back on soon.

If you do not have to deal with snow, then a good set of summer tires will be way better than all-season.

The "long-mileage" part of your criterion is probably tough with most good tires. The only thing going for the RS-A is their longevity and relative quietness actually - in eveyr other way, they are mediocre tires.

My suggestion would be to try Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in a 245/45-18 size if you are set on All-Season. I just got a set of these to try, and while not as good for handling, performance and braking as my previous tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3), they are pretty nice.

Quieter than high-performance summer tires (but not as quiet as a "Grand Touring" tire perhaps) and they should last a bit longer.

BTW, the Goodyear Eagle's typically got around 20k miles ... plus or minus a few. I am anticipating that these Michelin's will go about 25k - maybe even 30k miles, but this is a stretch!

I have the Goodyear Eagle F1 all-season tires on my '06 M35x. They're higher up the line (and in price) from the RS-As. So far, I like them a lot (~500 miles). Made a huge difference driving in snow as compared to the Falken summer tires that were on the car previously (I live in Wisconsin), without giving up noticeable (to me) dry performance.

The Eagle F1 All-Season was another tire that I considered recently, but decided to get the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ... mostly because Costco had it, and not the Goodyear! I was in a bit of a rush last week or two - heading to Lake Tahoe, and my summer tires would not have cut it there (plus, they were down to 3/32" tread anyway).

Of course, and a BTW (which I am sure you already know), the Eagle F1 All-Season is quite a different tire from the Eagle F1 GS-D3. The GS-D3 is an outstanding tire! I have now gone through four sets of that brand and model ... two sets on my car, and two on my wife's car, and still like it. It is my favorite summer tire right now (after the now-discontinued Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP )

The right way to do it!

A suggestion that I followed when I lived in New England: get a set of cheap steel wheels for the snow tires. Then, you don't have to spend the $80 each time to mount and dismount the tires each change of season. Plus, your nice alloy wheels never see salt in winter.

Thanks for the feedback. I decided to go with the BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S. So far, after 1 week, I'm happy with the decision. Big improvement over the GY RS-A, it's like a different car.

Yeah, I took off the RSA's and put on my marvelous ContiExtremeContacts and found a totally different handling machine also; incredible what a difference tires can make.

Yes, indeed!!

The Goodyear RS-A is a poor to mediocre tire ... agreed!

One has to realize that almlost any new tire is an improvement over any old worn out tire. As Q45tech has stated many times, a tire's deterioration begins the moment it is used. What is really important is how is it at 5K, 10K, 15K or 20K if it lasts that long.

Another thing to recognize is that a certain tire design may function well on a smaller 3400 lb car but not do so well on a 4000 lb car. Precisely why stronger construction in higher speed rated tires is important and why many look for the extra performance of an XL rated tire instead of just meeting OEM minimum load rating specifications.

In any event, please do enter the original and updated information as they wear in the Infiniti General sticky so we who drive Infiniti V8 can learn which hold up and which don't.
