Not as tired as I am of the sleepy eye craze! PLEASE, close the lights! It looks TERRIBLE on the MX-5!rudee023 wrote:Tired of the flat black craze?
the original engine in that car is a 1.6 liter engine getting 116hp. In 1994 a new 1.8 liter engine came with the miata producing 133hp. Its a very easy swap and they sell kits for like $200 and then all u need is the engine which is fairly cheap also.vvaffle wrote:Looks nice. Glad to see more people with white cars. Can you educate me on the engine swap? What came in the car stock and what car is the 1.8 from? Stock hp? Also konig rewinds are hot. Great looking smaller diameter wheels.
so you let's calculate what went on hereBruno240 wrote:

Ive herd arguments on both sides for which engine is better and its basically the same here which is better KA-T or SR20.
First off, all that really matters is the horsepower percentage gain, not the straight-up number. Numbers will always be smaller on smaller engines.0wn3r wrote:so you let's calculate what went on here
$200 + $cost of engine - $whatever you got for yours + install time = 17hp gain
is that worth it?!
so it'd what, like a 12-14 % increase in hp and instead of 72.5hp per liter you're now getting 73.9hp per liter. i dunno, to me it still doesn't seem worth it... i dont know much about miatas or the difference in the two, but if you wanted displacement i'm sure you could just get a camaro...HashiriyaS14 wrote:

Second, the 1.8L will react better to modifications than the 1.6 will, and so that's an added bonus of the swap beyond just the hp gained bone stock.
Honestly, it's a cheap enough swap that it really comes down to preference. I happen to like the 1.6L to be honest, I think it's one of the most pleasant engines ever designed, not to mention that it probably has more aftermarket support in Japan than the 1.8L does (a la ITB's and such, Mmmmmm)
sandpaper.Accord-240sx wrote:how do you clean flat white?
so instead of finding a car wash you have to go to a woodshop. roflskydragoness wrote:
sandpaper.
seriously, once white primer gets stained you either have to do a recoat or sand it lightly with 1500 or something similar.
I love Miata's, good find!
