lol it seems like it's always one problem to the next w/ no good times lately :(

i installed some of those Touge Factory adjustable wheel spacers (not hubcentric, rabble all you want) and they had a creaking issue when i started driving...went back today and torqued them all down nice and tight w/a real torque wrench and a person to hold the brakes tight (fronts werent tight enough due to the lack of stability when i was installing them the first time)...and put the car back down...and what do i hear? psssssssssss....

i have a leaking tire

no holes whatsoever...so where is it leaking? the mothereffing bead...well i installed the tires so i knew this was coming, one of the wheels they came off of was severely curbed by the previous owner, and the bead was fairly ravaged...but still in tact as they held pressure ok...but putting them on was kinda sketchy...(think ravaged like pam anderson's privates...eh)

but heres my issue, theyre kumho 712's, and i want to know...since the fronts are 215/45/17 and the rears are 225/45/17...should i replace just the 1 front? (tires have maybe 55/100 treadlife left) or should i replace both fronts w/ wider maybe 245, and mount the current rear's as front tires...) so my new setup could be 225 front, 245 rear...what is the best idea? grant help please!

the reason i ask BTW is because i know that some times uneven amounts of wear on same axle tires can be harmful to the car

If you're wheels are all the same width, I'd forget about the stagger and go with a 225/45/17 all around.

eh, i kinda liked the idea of having some meatier tires in the back, i wanted to sorta mimick the G35/350Z setup cuz i make about that much power...(power to weight wise)

i was hoping grant could take a look and respond to the thread...would it be ok to replace the 1 tire? or should i just go for it and get the 2 upsized tires...i'm goin w/ kumho ecsta supra 712 (what i already have) and i'd be goin from 215/45/17f 225/45/17r....to....225/45/17f 245/45/17r

is that a bad idea? would 245/40/17 look like a better height match?

Its not a horrible idea...but why go staggered? Power to weight doesnt mean to much in your case. My guess is that since you are contemplating buying just one tire (which you shouldn't) that you are probably somewhat budget minded. Since you are somewhat budget minded (don't mind me if I am off track here :D ) then going staggered will cost you more in the long run since you wont be rotating tires at all (cause we all know the camber ordeal in the rear of our S14's)... I woudl just get some 225/45/17 since they are only about 3mm off the stock diameter 205/55/16 (SE's) and put them on the rear, put your rears on the front and save the used front 215 to stick an engine block on or something (used tires sometimes come in handy).

If you do go staggered then get the 245/40's cause YES the 45's will be quite a bit taller and throw of your speedo more. Good luck!

Dave Coleman did a tech article in Sport Compact Car about a month ago on balancing out a 350Z's push, the trick was to use the same size fronts as the rears were, understeer gone (clearance was hella close though
