I am interested to find out if putting 255 wide tires on 7.5" wide 2002 Q45 8 spoke 18" OEM wheels would fit the wheel. These wheels/tires will go under my 94' Q45t.

Most major tire brands specs show 8"-10" Rim width range for 255/45-18 or 255/40/18 tires.

They can be fitted on the wheel, but it's not the ideal fitment.

Tires carry load and flex and absorb best when the carcass is in it's ideal range of fitment, and when air pressure is correct for the load carried. When a very wide tire is squeezed onto a narrow wheel, the casing is scruntched up, causing what can look like a rounded tire tread. When you load the tire with the heft of the big Q, you're placing an uneven load on the casing's sidewall.

dont do it man. GEt a more properly sized tire for the wheel, the car and the tire will thank you.

side note: contact patch size is not changed by tire width.

just something to keep in mind.-chet

Contrary to some TV ads, wider is not always better.
