What's the biggest tire I can fit on stock 15" S13 wheels (1992, to be exact)? I was gonna go with 205s, but now I'm considering the possibility of 215s or 225s. This would give me a better contact patch for acceleration, but would it help or hurt handling at all?

Thanks :)

My friend is running 235/45/17s with 40mm offset wheels without any problems on his 89' fastback.

So Im guessing you can run 225/50 with no problems, I could be wrong.

6".

You can go to a tire manufacturer's website and they should have the min/max wheel sizes for each tire. While most should be close, it's possible it can vary based on tire design, even for a given tire size.

Side wall flex would be the problem. Its going to hurt cornering and, I would think, wear out your tires faster. I would also think if you arent doing autocrossing or doing really hard corners on the street you would be ok. Im really not sure how much difference it will make. For proper patch widening you would want to go with wheels made for that size. Hopefully someone who has done this will post their thoughts. Oh yeah, gas mileage would be hurt some too. If you dont have lsd, that would be a much better upgrade for accel than this however.

We're talking stock 6" rims here.

Sidewalls would flex way too much. The sidewalls would overheat and delaminate.

Spend the money on some higher quality tires. You would be amazed at the difference between $50 and $100 tires.
