Even with proper inflation (30psi) the outsides of the front will wear quicker.
If both sides are wearing and the middle isn't, your tires are under inflated. The middle wears out, they are over inflated.
I keep out OE Bridgeston Duelers (crappy tire) at 33psi. Yes, that is 3psi over the door sticker, but most tire pressures are selected for comfort and 10% over isn't going to destroy the tires any faster.
The middle of my tires (25,000 miles) has slightly less tread detail then the the next ribs out, but again, nothing horrible.
The PF remains mostly unladen so stock pressures should be fine. If you tow or carry heavy loads (4 people + gear), you might want to bump up the pressures to 35-38 depending on the load especially in the rear if you are towing near max weight.
However, once you are done with the heavy hauling, reduce your pressures to save the middle of the tread.
Oh, and always take tire pressures when the tire is cold. Never after lots of driving(5+ miles) or if it is sitting directly in the sun.
Next tire for us wil be the Nokian WRs, an extreme duty all season tire.
