I just replaced all tires on my 2004 coupe. The front two only got 15k miles.. they were worn on the inside edges. The tire people said the tow was set up that way? Is this right?I did change to lower performance tires this time. 225 and 245 /45/r18 toyo proxes px4's.

They said I should de-mount every 5k miles the front two and switch? Does this seem right?

All tires require rotation frequently to reverse wear the feathering and to equalize. If you chose [to buy a vehicle with] directional tread tires the only solution is to demount flip and remount to cross rotate them.

Directional tires do improve wet performance slightly when brand new but by half worn they may be worse than equivalent non directionals.

Most directionals should be replaced when HALF WORN [5/32"] if wet performance means anything to you!

Primarily a marketing ploy to wear and replace tires faster by tire manufacturers.

Soft compounds harden fast, harder compounds stay more stable [durometer compound hardness].

If you can't get front to back rotation because of staggered wheels, and your alignment is in spec I don't see any substantial gains for the cost of remounting for the purpose of doing side to side swaps.I replaced my original Mich sports at 21K with very even treadwear on both rear tires. The fronts still have a few thousand left, and wear again is quite even. One tire has a small amount of inside wear, if you look hard. Good or bad, excess or uneven wear has to be attributed to driving conditions, alignment, maintaining air pressure, and certainly how the vehicle is driven.
