So I noticed when I bought my G in Apr it had some outer tire wear (bought used w/9K miles). I took it into the dealer yesterday to have them look at it as well as check out some brake squeal in reverse.

The dealership called me late yesterday afternoon and said that the excessive outer tire wear is normal as is the brake squeal because it has Brembo brakes. He also said they recommend an alignment about every 15K miles. I just hit 12K so I went ahead and had them do it just for peace of mind and because they say it is the only way to tell if it is out of alignment.

Could the front outer tire wear be due to the staggered wheels?

Can anyone confirm tire wear and brake issue in normal? Thanks-vin

uneven tire wear should only be slight. At about 10,000 miles, about 2/32 of difference in the inner edge and outer edge, but no more. A front and rear tire swap is a good idea to do, followed by an alignment after 10 or 15,000 miles, to keep tire wear even. The brake squeal, if it only squeals a little bit when going in reverse, is nothing to worry about. Its very common but is no trouble. But if you have an 09, its Akebono brakes, not brembo. Still, I'm pretty sure most of us experience a little squeal in reverse only. Even me.

I don't believe that the staggered wheels would have anything to do with the tire wear. I do believe that could be an alignment issue.

As far as the brake squealing issue is concerned, that may be normal. I've heard of brake systems like those having a little bit of squeal to them, but don't take my word for it; I don't have the Brembo system.

Best of luck to ya!

Just picked up my G. The alignment was only slightly out. At least I know I'm good to go there and I have some fresh oil. It is what it is I guess. Looks like I'll just have to replace the front tires soonerthan the rears...unless I light 'um every now and then :chuckle:

Watch for Firestone (yea I know) to offer lifetime alignment for about $80. I bought this for my G and get it aligned whenever I want for free.

So, you get an alignment just every so often???
In the Tire section I almost called crazy  for getting an alignment when I got new tires....I just let it go cause I knot as smarts as somes!!

But, OP, I have to call :bs: on the dealer too....sounds like time to find a better dealership.

If I'm not happy with my next service I may have to switch. The other two infiniti dealerships are in Dallas which is over an hour drive for me.

I must say for my first experience at an infiniti dealer for service I was extremely disappointed. Our Lexus dealership is much better in quality of service.

Unfortunately there are some bad Infiniti dealerships out there.
Hopefully, you won't have to use them often.
A local Nissan dealer can do all of your normal maintenance, but you do have to use Infiniti for warranty issues. Of course, doing it yourself can save you some $$$, just keep all receipts and a log.

If you have to make the trip to Dallas, go to Sewell. They will take care of you there. There has been a book written about Sewell's customer service philosophy.

Are you in the DFW area? Is Sewell the dealership you use? I had my experience at Grubbs. Thanks-vin

I had the exact two issues after driving my car for about 6k. I noticed the two front tires had extremely irregular wear on the outter part. The back tires appeared to be fine.

I noticed a small squeeking noise while going into reverse as well. When I brought the car to the dealership, they told me the squeek was normal and they ended up applying some kind of anti squeek fluid for the break pads. It seemed to help after they did that.

On the other hand, my tire wear is still an issue. After complaining to the dealership that my brand new car should not have alignment issues after driving less than a year, they decided to perform an alignment on my car for free. The only problem is I never got any paperwork stating the specs before and after the alignment. Now I'm worried there was something else wrong that they didn't want me to know.

I now have about 20k miles on the car and the front tires are almost bald on the outside and still a lot of tread on the middle and inner parts. I'm looking for a new set of tires now and plan to bring the vehicle back in to get it checked after I get the new tires on. This time I will be demanding to see the technical info!
