Just a warning to everyone. Repoman was driving my Altima last weekend and noticed that my tires were on backwards. I have directional tires and when I got the wheels/tires rotated at Discount Tire (the place where I bought them) they simply cross-rotated my wheels/tires. They didn’t bother remounting the tires to face the correct direction. This isn’t a post to flame Discount Tire, but just a warning to check these kinds of things when you leave a shop. Make sure you double-check the work that has just been done and that everything is secured properly. Discount Tire gladly corrected the problem and also replaced a tire on my Altima that had an impact bulge for free.

Thanks Repoman for watching out for us.

Well they could drop a windshield washer fluid cap, AND a bolt down into your engine like FREAKING JIFFY LUBE DID. Thank goodness for that supid window that lets you watch them change your oil (screw everything up). Just FYI... 8-)-Kev

Some people are very lazy when it comes to observing rotaions. I myself work for Discount Tire Company. A directional tread tire mounted backwards will only affect driving in wet conditions. It is simply just the water channels that are directional. Some people say that it is the threads as well, but that is just a rumor. Always make sure your tires dont have bludges in the sidewalls. This can result in a blowout and could ruin your pretty little car :)

An imprint in the sidewall is nothing, it is simply where the threads are connected, but a bludge means the threads have broken and the only thing holding the air in is the thin wall of rubber (which is severly damaged on the inside when the threads break).

Putting on directional tires backwards makes for an intresting ride. Guess you should go back and teach that shop how to do their jobs right.

Which Discount Tire did you go to Bud? Probably the Castleton one huh? The Westfield/Carmel one would of never done that.

The way they pay the grunts at discount tire, I'm surprised to not find a thread dedicated to flaming Discount.I work in direct competition with Discount...part of my daily routine is fixing their mistakes. Maybe the locations nearest me are poorly run. I'm sure not all locations are bad, but they've got a bad reputation up here.

Right on! It's always good to talk to other tire guys. I dont mean to beat on Discount, hell, tirerack.com is great and the techs who work the phones are awesome, so it must just be around here where Discount has a bit of a poor reputation. I'm sure you're doin a helluva job so keep it up!

Yeah, that is pretty awesome. How much would some Pirellis be in a 305/40ZR22?

Do you work at the one on Busbee Pkwy? If so, I've heard nothing but excellent things about that store.
