Hey guys quick question I'm running on 15" tires and i was wondering how bad my gas mileage would suffer if i moved up to 16" would there be any loss in power?

Well I put 15's on my first d21 from 14's it lost a small amount of take of quickness and mileage dropped about 1-2 mpg. it all depends on the weight of the tire rim combo, as long as you do one plus sizing so overall circumference stays as close as possible to the ones you have now. google one plus sizing for a chart on what size tire to use in 16 to keep speed o and stuff accurate. if circumference stays real close it is only the weight that will hurt acceleration and mpg. So light wheels are best.

Depends on the tire size you run, not the wheel size.

A tire with a lower aspect ratio on a 16" rim would be about the same diameter as one with a higher ratio on a 15" rim.

Assuming you're going with the same tread width and aspect ratio on the 16 vs. the 15, and you're running a tire 1" taller than what you have, you may see some change. Keep in mind though you're speedo and odo will be off by a small percentage too, and a correction will need to be made to any mileage figures you calculate.

If you want more tread get wider rims and wider tires. What size rims and tires do you have now?

16" Xterra wheels seem to be plentiful right now... I'm looking at them for them for my '04 that came with steel 15's. Keep in mind that the '05 and up Nissan Frontiers and Xterra wheels came with a different bolt spacing and aren't bolt-on combatible. Check http://www.car-part.com for them.

If you go to http://www.tirerack.com you can pull up specs. for all available tires in a particular tire brand and type. To avoid changing your speedometer calibration, you would want to stay as close to your stock tire's overall diameter as possible. In your case, going from 14" to 16" and keeping the same overall diameter is going to put you with a fairly low profile tire - so I would probably go with a larger tire and find a way to adjust the speedometer vs. dealing with the added ride harshness.
