hi everyone, well my back tires are wearing out really fast and it starts to slip like crazy in rain...but i dont have money to buy new tires yet. i was thinkin about switching with my front tires because they are still in good condition...you think its okay to do that? since its real wheel drive so tires wear out faster then front tires..is back tires needs to be in better condition then front tires? is this ture?

thanks

no, bad idea.

front tires wih less tread are gonna cause your fronts to hydroplane, atleast with the back hydro planing, you still have some control.

you always want the most tread on the front wheels.

The more tread on the front tires, the more control you have over the direction of motion. If the tires are worn that badly, replace them.

If you would like to make the most of whats left of your tires, do some donuts in an empty parking lot. But you didnt hear that from me.

There is another school of thought on this. When braking, usually for safety, it's better to understeer than oversteer. If the rear tires give first, you may end up spinning out. Losing some steering control in order to keep the car stable would be more akin to the original design of most cars.

But more than anything, use the basic speed law. Do not drive faster than conditions allow. And if your tires are bad enough that you can never drive a safe speed given the worn tires, keep the car off the road.

there is sooo many choices when it comes to tire selection, so i guess it all comes down to what youre gonna use it for....u dont need an ultra expensive tire if youre not gonna utilize half of it, ya know what i mean?.....go to someplace like tirerack maybe, see what they have look at price ranges...as far as brands go theres quite a few off the top of my head ill say Bridgestone, Nitto, Dunlop, BFgoodrich, Pirelli, Yokohama, Falken........theres definitely more, but those brands all have some good tires.....

the more important question might be, what is YOUR price range?

Go to your local junkyard, mine sells good tires for 5 bucks a pop, and they have great tread on them. And mounting isnt much more than a few bucks.

S14-84, get on down to LeTire and have them set you straight. Asking pricing for tires here is odd when you are surrounded by local businesses that will sell you tires, and put them on to boot!!!The internet should is a guide, not a destination.

Any other questions, you can always click on the TireRack link in the left hand sponsor column. Grant is our TireRack rep and he will be able to answer any question you have.

Moving to proper forum for you.

The best place to put new tires is on the rear of the vehicle. I know that does not sound right but there is a good reason. If you have the shallow treads out back, it will make the rear end much more unstalbe on wet pavement. It will break loose faster than the front and if you hit the brakes or even take you foot off the gas, the back end is going to swing out even more. Here's a detailed topic from our tire tech page:

You can search our website for all type of tire information to help you select the best tire/brand for what you are trying to do with the car. Here is a link to the tire section of our website where you can see brands, models, test results, and even customer reviews of the tires:

Order your tires from http://www.tirerack.com.

I had some of the regular sumitomos on my old CRX for a long time and i was very happy with them.
