I'm currently considering getting some falken azentis sport or nitto 555R's for daily driving. I need a tire that lasts at least 15k miles since this is a daily driven car but I'm gonna need alot of traction for my setup. Which would be better for a high powered RB26 240? Any other tires that would be worth looking at? I also plan on running these tires with 17x9 in the front and 17x10 in the back. All suggestions are welcome.

1. Your not getting 15k on a set of grippy tires2. Your not getting 15k on a set of grippy tires w/ a RB263. What are you putting 17x9 and 17x10 wheels on ... offset? 4. Nitto 555R's suck for handling, they are a forward accel tire5. Falken Azenis Sports' largest size is a 245 6. IBchetsaysPirelliPzeroRossos>*

What do you use now?

Azenis>555r

However, the Azenis is not recommended for anything wider than 9" wheel... and even that is in the 245/45-17 size.http://www.falkentire.com/html...s.htm

Ok heres the deal.....I have a 1990 rb26 240sx that will be putting out around 500+ on pump and 700+ on race gas. It's gotta be broken in on crappy tires most likely because I get it back soon. It put out 585rwhp on 24psi so it has to go back and i'll be most likely putting out that much on pump gas from what the dyno guy said since I have a couple goodiez coming in soon. I just want some tires that will get me some descent traction and last at least 15k-20k miles cuz I dont wanna buy tires every other month. I do know I'll go threw quite a few more tires than your usual 240 though. I do plan on getting some wide volks though since I wanna put ET streets or slicks on it. And for anyone that says BS.....I'll have pics and stats for you all soon. Oh and what offset would you guys recommend for 17x9 and 17x10 volks? I do have the 5 lug conversion and front r32 calipers with 300zx brembo drilled rotors but they arent on the car yet. So what tire would guys recommend for my setup?

This is one of those horse before the cart questions. To begin with, I would check with Volk or the shop where you are buying them to see what sizes and offsets they have sold for this type of application. They would have a better idea of what offsets and especally tire sizes that will work. Likely you will have to have a local shop test fit tire sizes with the wheels to get a idea of what will even fit with your suspension and other modifications on that wide of a wheel. No one is going to be able to tell you what will work without access to the wheels and the car when it comes to the tire sizes. These sizes you are looking at are a lot wider than most of us have ever seen on these cars. Once you determine which tire sizes are going to fit/work, we can offer some suggestions about tires that are actually made in matching sizes front/rear.

im gonna pop this up now, and not waste my time answering the questions:

:bsflag

-chetsorry man, your talking pipe-dreams unless you got serious cash, and your asking the impossible, a super dry grip tire capable of handling 700hp and lasting over 15k. sorry dude, not happening.

ummm I said descent traction and I said tires that last at LEAST 15k miles. I can afford to use ET streets or drag radials everyday but I really dont want to soooo what would be my next best choice for traction? I knew someone would BS me. Dont believe my setup? Well I'll make you look stupid soon enough.

No need to make Chet look stupid, or try to. If that's all you're in the hobby for, or here for, that's foolish.

Your original question cannot be answered with a simple "yes, try this" (as Grant has so eloquently stated) It's much more complicated...

I see four people all saying basically the same thing: There is no such tire, and blindly recommending tire sizing, wheel offset is next to impossible.

Good grip vs. Good price vs. Good mileage

Next, you don't "want to" use drag radial/slicks? The only thing that will offer grip at such power levels are going to be ultra grip, short life tires. There is no way around that, period.

Where are you located?

You've to this point invested very heavily into this car, and, to quote you: "I dont wanna buy tires every other month" Why not? Traction is the most important aspect of any performance car, period. If you have no traction, you have no response, you cannot go forward or stop or turn, then your investment was a waste... it takes money to run such a car, so I'm left with only one other logical reason you "don't want to" run grip tires....fear of having a tire guy scratch a wheel from repeated dismounting/mounting every month or so?? Buy more wheels, perhaps??

That's the nature of such a project, and there's no way around that, either. You would or should already know this, so I agree with Chet.

I said I dont want to use them drag radials or et streets everyday especially if they are only straight line only. I thought they might have descent handling. I still might use Nitto 555R's cuz of the big traction problem I dunno, I just came lookin for advice not a damn fight. I do plan on buying seperate wheels and tires to play around with on the street/track. I was just seeing if there was a tire that I could get in say maybe 295 that would be descent daily. Ya know what go ahead and call BS all you want. My car is down here in MD if ya wanna come ride in it or see it. My 8 point roll cage is still being installed I believe so I'll wait to post my whole setup cuz nobody would believe me anyways.

Ahh yes...does anyone have any experience with Toyo RA-1's? This is a tire im seriously gonna consider driving daily with. I do plan on getting some ET streets to really take advantage of the 110 octane that I can get less than 10 mins where I live.

http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_specsheet.cfm?id=1I've sold them for years, and they will perform no different than any of the already mentioned ultra grip competition tires.

8/32" tread, people shave them to 4/32".... treadwear rating 40!!

You won't be any more pleased with longevity(or lack thereof) with these.

Ultra sticky, quick wearing, maximum grip, minimum life expectancy. Notice a trend, yet?

Yok A0Toyo RA-1Falken Azenis

All have the same(generally) design/basis for intended use, life expectancy: Competition grip, quick wear rate.

I would love for you to make me look stupid. Its not a difficult thing, but honestly. with that much money invested, the cost of repalcing tires every year would be minimal compared to money already invested..

without being abbrasive, Check out the tire reviews, and FAQ area, and search around, we;ve covered all sort of race setup that my prove usefull.

have fun.-chet
