6.5" wheel, not many tires are going to stretch. i guess you could put a 165/70/14 on it or something and that would be a stretch. you don't need to start worrying about stretching tires until you get at least an 8" wide wheel. For a mostly stock setup, such as yours, just stick with a 195/60/15 or 205/60/15 or 205/55/15 or soemthing like that.

i've been running 205/60/15's and there is just a tad too much sidewall flex for my taste. between the flex, runnin 205/50's in the front and no front swaybar im geting too much snap back causing me to spin out on transitions. would a 195/60 have less flex or should i hit the 205/55's. i like having a taller tire in te rear because of the way it sets up the roll axis. tryed runnin 205/50's in the rear but were a little harder to kick out and keep it out however the control was great. god i feel like a noob askin this crap.

if youre running the stock's and you want to stretch a tire, you wont have much of a contact patch.

yeah, thats an ok stretch.

but you can't really (nor would youw ant to) stretch anything on a 6" wheel on a 240.

im just tryin to cut back on sidewall flex w/o killin a new set of $80 tires(i know im gonna kill the tires id just rather kill a new set of $40 tires). i cant afford more tha 100 a pair for the rears. if i had the dough id just kill a set of azenis, which by the way feel pretty damn good in the rear for drifting i reccomend it if you have money like that.

p.s. i also realized that stretched tires might actually hurt my perfomance due to the reason marshun posted. i guess its time to get some new wheels.(and stop posting when i'm drunk)

i pay 40 bucks a pair on the rear and take anything they got that wont fall of the bead..... but anyways .. this is about sidewall flex?... i never even pay much attention to it .. i just pump them up till i dont see marks goin past the point where the sidewall meets the tread i figure i'm good..

try a set of 205/70's and you'll see what i mean. i really need coilovers, i think then it would be a little less of an issue. i just dont want to loose the little stiffness my suspesion does have, through the tires.

what marshun is saying is that on a stock wheel, to achieve a stretched look, he'd have to run a much skinnier tire, thereby killing his contact path. basically, he'd have to run like a 165mm tire to get a stretch on a 6" wheel.

the reason for stretching achieves a couple things. the most important is that when drifting, the sidewall won't flex as much, giving you better feedback to the road, better control and stability. It also allows you to run ridiculously wide wheels without having to seriously increase power to break loose a tire that would normally fit on that wheel. And lastly, it allows the socalled "drifter flush" to happen, when the lip of the wheel is flush with the fender, it allows the wheel to come out and the tire to stay inside the fender without hitting the fender.

any body have any experience running 195/50/15 kumho ecsta supra 712s, ecsta 711s, or ecsta kh11s in the rear or same size sumitomo HTRZs or HTR 200s? or would the 205/50/15s be a better choice?

these are a shorter tire tha the other ones i was talking about, therefor it would be easier to spin them because at the same pressures these would still have the same size contact patch but the gear ratio would make it easier to break them.

exactly. you'd probably be putting spare tire rubber on a stock wheel. lol. then you'd catch tons of flack.

hell i dont even have rims. im running stock tear drop rims and old 300z rims.

i want to change to 5 lug anyway since they have better fitting rims. and its hard to find 4 lugs that fit good.

i'd like to find a shop here in the east that would stretch with out *****ing about how "its not proper" here in the mid-east coast...

I wanted this cause i finally got some cheap 3-spoke 15x7.5's with multi lug and i could actually do it...
